A Real Italian Pizza Place In my opinion, they make the best pizza in Iowa City! Each to their own taste. The restaurant has been in business since 1962 and is still owned by the same person. All ingredients are fresh and the place is cleaned daily including all his equipment. The proof is in the repeat business he still gets with previous generations. [07 Jan 2003 19:17:41]

great pizza I am from out of town and this pizza was the best. I drive 2 hours once a month just to get Pagliais Pizza [11 Feb 2003 18:52:10]

It's the best! What else is there to say? This is the best pizza I have ever had and I've eaten a lot of pizza in my life. They don't deliver but there's no need. I would walk on my knees through the snow to get a carry-out order and I live 25 miles away. They also offer their pizzas frozen which, while certainly not as good as the fresh-made, are darn good. Really nice Pizza Restaurant The atmosphere is upscale for a pizza place and the staff is really nice. The pizza is among the best, if not the best I have had anywhere. The only shortcoming, if you consider it one, is that pizza is the only dish they serve. But if pizza it what you want, Pagliai's is definitely the place to get great pizza in Iowa City. I agree with one of the other reviewers, I'd drive two hours to get their pizza. [30 Apr 2003 19:32:05]

Best Pizza....PERIOD. I started eating Pagliais Pizza in 1966. It was the best then and is still the best today. I've eaten pizza all over these United States and always go back to Pagliais. I now live in Alaska and since I can't go to the "Pizza Palace" on a weekly basis my sister, who lives in Iowa City, FedEx's me frozen pies when I go into withdrawals. [19 Apr 2004 12:35:41]

Best Pizza In Town Don't know what to say except it is the best pizza anywhere- and if you try to get a table on a Saturday night you will see that a lot of locals agree with me. Only downside is that they don't deliver. [05 Mar 2005 16:31:33]

By far best pizza in town... Armond Pagliai, his son and grand son all make pizzas. Regulars don't even have to order, their pizza is in the process of being made before they walk in the door.
New comers are treated with just as much respect!
The grease drips down your wrist and is heaven! [27 Jul 2005 21:08:56]

One unbelievable pizza place.
Not much to the menu: no appetizers, no crust choices. Just pizza, pop, and a couple beers and wines.
There isn't much to the ambience either, but the place is exceptionally clean.
They don't deliver, and Pagliais is only open for dinner.
But, wow, it truly is a great pizza. [19 Jul 2006 02:43:47]
