This place must be new...
I had dinner at the Hawkeye today (I just happened by), and was very impressed by the food, then surprised at how difficult it was to find on the Web.

I had the smaller of their two Filet Mignons, a nice salad, and a more than serviceable rice pilaf. I ordered Key Lime Pie for dessert... what arrived was not pie at all, but an overdecorated lime cheesecake. Just OK, even though I like cheesecake. BUT the FILET was AWESOME. Absolutely flawless, and tasty all the way through. Bravo!

The separate smoking lounge is pretty cheesy. I didn't bother to ask for wine since I was driving, but I hope they have some appropriate reds for those lovely steaks!    [29 Oct 2006 23:21:09]
