Not for everyone
When I first went to Bucer's I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The long oak tables the books the cigar lounge. But I soon found the employees were snobbish and inept. The coffee was terrible, you'd be as likely to be ignored standing at the counter as spoken to. One day last summer I arrived there late in the evening in search of a light meal. After getting to the counter I looked in their display rack and flies were all over their food stuffs. Not just one or two but a lot of flies. This quelled my appetite. The register jockey finally turned from her flirtations with a coworker and asked what I wanted. The only response I could think of was. "There are flies all over your Quiche." She looked down and said "Yep. So you want the quiche?" I repeated "There are flies all over your quiche." A manager came forward drug her away whispered something about "I think this guy might be a health inspector" and then withdrew the offending quiche from the display case. I merely walked away. Their concern for cleanliness leads me to think the only safe things to buy there are prebottled items. I wouldn't so much as buy a glass of water there.

I'm giving them the lowest ambiance rating not because they lack a cool motiff but because health codes are part of ambiance.    [11 Feb 2008 20:31:31]
