Not Up to its Previous Standards Mallard's has a nice view of the lake, but the service and food were not as we've had there in the past.
The kid serving us belonged behind a counter at McD's, not in a nice restaurant. He didn't know the menu or have the skills of an experienced waiter. It took forever to get waited on, and then for the food to be served. The place was almost empty so it wasn't because the kitchen was backed up.
The salad greens were so old they were slimy. My date's salmon main-dish was way overcooked and served without the sauce listed on the menu, the desert was only so-so, and the coffee had a head on it (soap?). They did redo and comp the salmon, but my dinner (too-dry chicken breast) was pretty tired by the time the redone salmon came...it should have been redone also.
It was almost humorous, getting to the point that we were wondering what would go wrong next!
We have eaten there before and really enjoyed the experience. I don't know if they have changed management or what, but this definitely isn't up to their previous standards. It is a lovely setting though, so I hope they can get their act together. [28 Dec 2006 20:31:29]
