A Real Gem
Surprising, fabulous little place. Garlic abounds. Small menu, big flavor. Wine available.
After years in a small white house, they moved nearby; I have not been to the new location.    [10 Apr 2004 03:25:08]

Bold Flavors, Outstanding
The dishes are not shy on garlic or flavor in general. If strong garlic is too much for you, abstain from the Garlic Green Beans but, otherwise, don't miss them!

The only entry I have had is the special with Chilean Sea Bass, Prawns and Curry Chicken. It is truly a delight. The Sea Bass is so good, last time I asked for two portions in place of the Prawns. I kind of missed the prawns, so, next time I'm going to keep the Prawns and still get the extra Sea Bass. It was an extra 2 bucks for the substitution, I imagine it will be an extra 8 bucks for the addition next time. It will be well worth it.

The atmosphere is a little too loud & busy for me but the food is always the defining characteristic for a restaurant.    [18 Oct 2004 13:57:49]

The food is awesome!
The food is awesome. The owner is usually on site and available to meet and greet you. From what I have been told, he met his wife on the East Coast, while she was from the Pacific Northwest, and decided to open a restaurant in a little known Inland Northwest city....Post Falls, Idaho. While the reviewer said the atmosphere was too loud and busy....hey...that's what makes this restaurant GREAT!!! The owner/chef says it all....garlic, garlic and more garlic.    [13 Feb 2005 00:31:21]

If you love garlic...
Turkish Cigars... Deep Fried Feta... even the kids meals are awesome! This place is truly unique, the food is always excellent and the service is super. You will feel welcome and appreciated as a guest at The White House Grill. The owners will come out and sing for Birthdays and they are such a treat! Beware of extreme flavor!    [19 Sep 2005 13:46:13]

You can smell the garlic a couple blocks away from The White House Grill in Post Falls! Warning: if you don't like garlic... don't go here! But if you like garlic, you will LOVE the food. This restaurant is so popular, reservations are a necessity. It is always crowded, and you may have to park a street away. Thursday evenings they have a lovely and talented bellydancer "Ravisha" who performs two sets. The owner usually makes a round during dinner, and will beat on his drum and sing if it's your birthday :-)

With the restaurant's popularity, expect somewhat slow service (but it is worth the wait, and the waitpeople are very friendly and pleasant). You could make a meal with just the appetizers. Hummus, my favorite appetizer is very strong with *hot* garlic flavor and comes with pita triangles for dipping. There is also some Baba Ghannouj on the Hummus plate. "Cigars" are spinach and feta rolled up in phyllo and served with a small "salad" of tomatoes, onions, and feta. You just can't stop eating the Garlic Cheese Bread, and the French Onion Soup is rich with cheese and a strongly flavored broth.

The salty, garlicky green beans served with most meat dishes are fabulous. I wonder if they are sauced with the meat drippings as they have dark liquid, and if you shine your table light onto them you'll see almost as much garlic as beans! My favorite entree is the lamb Shish Kebab, I wish I knew their marinade secret, the meat is incredibly moist, tender and extremely flavorful.

At dinners, the place is rather dark and yes, very noisy, but the noise is because everyone is having such a good time!

Prices are reasonable, appetizers are $2.50-$3.50, a gyro is $5.75 and dinners are $9-$13 with nightly specials sometimes a bit more.    [29 Oct 2005 22:57:20]

Excellent, excellent food. The chillean bass was most superb. The atmosphere was pleasing, and the load foreign techno was pretty cool too. Being 14, it seemed too fancy a first, but once I walked in, I was right at home.    [22 Dec 2005 01:24:16]

This is hands down my favorite restaurant! We have been here many times and have brought many of our friends (now we have to fight them for reservations!) The food is unbelievably good. The sea bass is a must and oh baby are the green beans good! Wash is down with Baklava and thanks be to whoever made the bad map that landed a chef like this somewhere like Post Falls, Idaho!? Cannot say enough good things!    [19 Jun 2006 01:48:00]

Anybody For GARLIC???
This Restaurant is great and when my husband and I got directions there my friend just said: you'll know when you get there because you'll smell garlic. Well I didn’t believe her. So we driving down the I-90 got off exit and then we didn’t know where to go and the traffic light turned red all of a sudden all I could smell was garlic. I looked at my husband (wondering if it was just my hunger taken over), nope he smelled it too. The building was right beside us. We made revs. It was a good thing we did because other people had to wait a while.

Our appetizer was awesome the hummus is so great and so was our main meal the med chicken so good and they served us fast!

The waitress was friendly and she also told us on some days they have belly dancers. Just don’t tell them its your birthday because they make a BIG bang (unless in a funny way you want to embarrass the person).

Overall great and we are going back on Friday with my husbands parents.

WE LOVE GARLIC!    [27 Oct 2006 01:19:39]

Amazingly good food!
You're in for an awesome meal if you make it to this restaurant. Even the "simplistic" foods - French Onion soup, Greek salad, sandwiches - can't be matched anywhere in this part of the world. Follow your nose to the garlic...you can't miss it!    [15 Dec 2006 23:49:40]

Fine food but poor custsomer sevrvice
I really enjoyed the food. Well prepared and presented. However their wait staff needs training. They did not greet us when we entered the restaurant. We literally stood there for five minutes while the host stared at us. We actually had to ask to be seated. We called to address the issue, but neither the owner or manager (perhaps that was the owner) never bother returning our call. When my wife called to try a second time, the phone was hung up on her four times! So I called and only got an answering machine, which only verified to me that the place is operated by morons. Very poor attitude and treatment towards customers. If you like this sort of treatment, this is the place.    [17 May 2008 11:46:35]
