A Pleasant Surprise I was coaxed into trying this restaurant by a business associate and was a bit put off by the location (in a strip mall). One bite of my lunch and I was a convert! The portions were generous and the food was as delicious as I have had in far pricier restaurants. [24 Jun 2002 11:27:57]

Good Italian Oliveti's took us by surprise, after dining at mediocre after mediocre taco stand and coffee shop restaurants which seem to proliferate Des Plaines.
Great quaint family run place, very welcoming.
Good Italian food. [26 May 2003 22:34:45]

The best Italian food ever! I recently visited Oliveti's for the first time, and was so impressed by the atmosphere and food. Everything was absolutely delicious, and I will make sure I recommend this restaurant to everyone I know! [16 May 2005 16:11:32]

Marvelous first-time visit! Following a golf session, we stopped for dinner at Oliveti's. It was a marvelous surprise! Service and cuisine were excellent. We plan to come back again (from northwest-side Chicago), and will recommend to family & friends. [21 Sep 2006 09:23:59]

An Italian Family Restaurant you want to try I was quite disappointed to read some of the mixed reviews that Olivetti Restaurant recently received, and having been there before I had to go back to see what, if anything had changed. My conclusion is that the others may have been having a bad day before going to Olivetti.
We were promptly seated in a very professional manner by a young lady, (pre-teen), who was probably part of the family - and this is a family restaurant that reflects their pride in the food they serve.
My waiter was Augie and he was quite forthcoming when I asked for his personal favorites. I had the Calamari Julianova which was excellent. There was no shortage of calamari in the meal, the portion was generous, the flavor nicely blended and the prices were quite reasonable. The food was prepared well, was quite tasty and was served in a pleasant and efficient manner. Augie seemed to genuinely be happy that we were there.
Looking around the dining room you knew that everyone there were also enjoying their meals.
In case anyone is wondering, in the past I have opened (2) Four Star Hotels as a Food and Beverage Controller and had responsibility for quality control in both and menu development in one. I have also travelled in a consulting capacity as a consultant for one of the original Big Eight firms specializing in the Restaurant and Hotel Industry. Additionally I travelled for another Consulting Firm as a consultant developing menu items and training cooking staff. I say this to tell you that if you want to visit a nice family run Italian Restaurant that serves food reflecting their pride at a reasonable price that is pleasing to the tast, then you really ought to pay a visit to Olivetti Restaurant.

Where is the chef? Service and atmosphere was excellent...the food was really bad. Overcooked veal, soupy risotto and spoiled polenta. Anyone in this industry knows that you can't send this food out when it's dead season. [30 Dec 2006 19:22:59]
