Never again Firstly make sure before you go here, know that the buffet is $45 per person and that does not include liquor, soft drinks or dessert.
My wife and I went to Sal & Carvao on a Saturday night. After making reservations for 8pm, we arrived on time only to find out that we would have to wait another 45 minutes to be seated.
The food: Good food quality and good selection on the buffet. The meat that is served throughout the evening is again good but in most cases nothing stood out as very special or great. The "herd at the trough" mentality is definitely at play here and it is very loud. There is nothing relaxing nor romantic about this restaurant.
After being asked by our waitress if it was our first time there, we answered yes. She gave us no choices and more importantly NO PRICES as to what the meal/buffet would cost. After being directed by her to the buffet area and filling our plates only ONCE with salad, cheeses, salmon, olives and bread we returned to our seats and began to eat. Halfway through our meal we began to receive small chunks of meat. Between the two of us we had exactly 3 small piece of meat:1 chicken, 1 beef and 1 pork. To sum up our meal we each had 1 plate of salad foods and 3 small chunks of meat and 2 soft drinks with no dessert or liquor.
We were almost speechless to find that our bill came to $95.00!!!! Some may say why not eat more to get one's money's worth but most will understand that it's kind of tough to eat 3 or 4 plates of food at a buffet unless you are willing to waste and not eat most of it.
Trust me when I say that you will never feel like you have gotten your money's worth here.
There are numerous restaurants where one can get better quality food and service for a similar or in most cases a better price.
Also be careful of the wait staff. They are very deceptive when not telling patrons what items cost, what is included in the buffet and what is not.
Absolute pass this one up, unless you can eat 10-15 lbs of meat you lose in this deal. [23 Oct 2006 00:09:45]

We Love It! My husband and I really enjoy this restaurant. We only go for very special occasions. It is expensive. We try everything. We both really enjoyed the meat and the gauchos told us what everything was and were very personable. My husband told them it was my birthday and they brought me a dessert with a candle and they sang happy birthday to me in Portuguese. It was very fun. You do need to come hungry! This is a wonderful restaurant and the meat is fabulous, service is great and the salad bar is the best! We especially like the garlic steak....it is by far the best that we have had, and consistently so, visit after visit. The salad bar is the best one outside of California. It has so many items on it that are very expensive to purchase, so it makes the salad bar a real bargain. We do prefer to go at lunch when it is cheaper. But even so, I always get the salad bar alone which is 1/2 price the reg. price all the time. It is definitely worth it! [29 Dec 2006 08:35:47]
