Great Burgers and Onion Loaf, Patio Setting
Hackney's on Harms has one of the best outdoor seating areas anywhere. Surrounded by the woods, it is a beautiful place to eat.

Best items are the burgers (beef and buffalo as well) and the onion loaf, which consists of lightly dusted onion rings fried to a loaf shape. 1/2 loaf will feed a large family.

A North Shore Institution
Hackney's, whether it's on Lake St or Harms in Glenview, or out on Rand Road in Lake Zurich, is consistent with their burgers, ribs, and, of course their onion rings. Going to the ones in Glenview, since that is my childhood, is like re-living the experience that my folks had. The bar is always packed by locals being served up by friendly bartenders. The food is great. It's nice that there are placed like this that offer some continuity.    [17 Aug 2005 15:15:47]

I literally spent much of my childhood in the kitchens of Hackney's on Harms and also on Lake Ave. My mother, Carmen was the inventor of their onion rings. I have such wonderful memories of the food and the Masterson family. I am in NV now and so often long for a Hackney burger on that divine dark rye, the divine fresh lake perch they serve on Fridays, and most of all my Mama's onion rings.
