Critic's Choice Cafe 36 Cafe 36 has won raves from Chicago food critics from its classic, sophisticated ambiance to its original menu. The menu has emphasis on meats not normally served such as pheasant and venison. Chef Reinhard is known for experimenting with favorite recipes and creating a vastly different creation known for its presentation and taste. [22 Dec 1999 22:01:44]

Crab cakes, especially the sauce, were incredible. All sauces are exceptional. [26 Jul 2000 12:23:58]

Service? Overall dining experience lacks service. Wait staff is eating on the floor and counting their cash. Of the four dishes that were ordered, nothing was exceptional. We wasted our time and our money. [16 Feb 2003 01:33:14]

OUTSTANDING!! I had eaten at Cafe 36 prior to Terry and Carol Gilmer purchasing it at the end of 2005. I enjoyed it then but now it is even more enjoyable. Their exceptional, knowledgeable staff made us feel like this was our home away from home. The bar area is a cozy area of the establishment, great for relaxing and winding down the day. The bar tenders are always so friendly and really add to the warm friendly atmosphere. As far as the price goes, the menu is very well priced for the QUALITY and QUANTITY you get. I have had the pleasure of dining off all of their menus and can honestly say, WOW!! Especially the Sunday Brunch. I take my family there nearly every Sunday. My wife often eats lunch with her book club and it is now their preferred place to go. I give this restaurant a 10 on a scale of 1-10. I urge you to venture out and try this relatively new place... You will not be disappointed! [01 Sep 2006 03:20:06]
Food: Service: Ambiance: Overall: Recommended Dishes: Brunch - ANY OF THEIR QUICHES OR CREPES . Lunch - Burger is one of the best I've had. Dinner - Pork Chop is outstanding!
