Most excellent burgers Nick's has the world's best burgers, in my opinion and I don't say that lightly. To me, the last really good burger I had was at Cal's Roast Beef in Lansing, IL and that was about 25 years ago. Nick's comes in second but it took that long to find a burger close to being that good.
It's a really small place so you have to get there early to get a seat as it's packed at lunch time. They really need to expand the place or open a second bar.
The burgers are huge and juicy and I can rarely finish the whole thing. I get mine with American cheese, large cut raw hot onions and pepperoncini peppers on the side and a bag of most excellent Vitner's potato chips.
Karen, the waitress is extremely cool and a fun person to talk to. Leave big big tips for her. [29 Mar 2003 23:46:42]

BEST BURGERS IN THE MIDWEST! I agree with the previous reviewers comments that Nick's has the second best burgers of all time. Cal's Roast Beef truly were the finest burgers ever cooked. Somebody needs to hunt down their original recipe someday!
Nicks burgers are huge and best with raw onion and swiss cheese which you will have to bring yourself because swiss is not available there. We get ours cooked medium so they are the juiciest. At Christmas time they really dress the place up. It's just a fun place to be with great burgers.
Unfortunately Karen the awsome waitress finally moved on and no longer works there. We miss her a lot. [26 Feb 2005 12:54:39]

A local!
Best Burgers in The Midwest The burgers are better than I can make at home. We have been patrons of Nick's Tavern for many years. I truly hope nothing ever changes there. We always make a point of stopping in during the Christmas holiday, and the decorations are breath-taking. Good friends, great food, great atmosphere; what more could we ask for? By the way, Karen is back! What a pleasant surprise, not to mention taste testing her holiday baking! [10 Mar 2006 23:46:19]

You Won't Be Disappointed. I grew up in Lemont, and moved out of state 13 years ago. Whenever we get "home" to visit, Nick's is a MUST GO TO stop. I've tried burgers all over the country and they all get measured along side Nick's. Come hungry, they're bigger than your average bear. [21 Sep 2007 08:53:21]
