Great Dinner at Sequel
Had dinner at Sequel after reading the Tribune review. Food was outstanding and creative, service up to par with posh city restaurants. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a great dining experience.    [29 Jan 2007 19:47:20]

We dined at Sequel last Saturday night. The decor is very nice - mahoganies, browns, coppers, blues. The initial service was prompt and courteous. The food was tasty but not spectacular. The service by the end of the evening was perfunctory at best. Had too many opportunities where we felt 'something' else should have been happening. The owner Steve popped by, as he had done with other tables during the evening, and we chatted about it a bit. It was not the worst experience so it was only worth a small mention. Clearly he mentioned it to our server and the dessert course had more frequent checks. Interestingly enough, at the end of the evening she mentioned that he had said something to her as she 'tried' to figure out what was missing. I framed my reference for her with the fact that I had 11 years in the F & B business and just felt that the level of attention was rote at best and not really personal. I think it really had a slim chance of getting better after the busboy started using the small vacuum by the tables next to us as we were eating our appetizer course. The server across from us, who really seemed to be doing a nice job being attentive with his 3 tables, clearly noticed the distraction and attempted to get him to stop using the machine while we were eating. It was not very noisy but certainly added to the feeling of being 'unnoticed' and not really 'looked after’.

I had the Panko crusted goat cheese in kumquat marmalade with toast points and it was scrumptious. My entree was the venison chop (1 chop) that surprised me considering it was almost $30.00 & my husband had the bisque & rib eye. I skipped dessert & hubby should have- he had the chocolate hazelnut sacher torte - dry- but pretty.    [31 Jan 2007 06:53:04]

The Finest Low-hype Dining in the Western Suburbs
A distinctive blend of some classic bistro dishes and American contemporary make the menu really great.
Service is polished, but you won't get the rundown on where each wild onion was picked or each animal raised.
The staff knows their wines, but do not push anything, nor talk down to anyone.

Desserts complement the meals and are seasonally appropriate.    [19 Jul 2007 16:14:01]
