Nice place to go, if your 65 and up
Having just moved to Park Ridge, my wife and I (both in early 30's) were looking for a nicer local restaurant. We had heard that Walters Restaurant was suppose to be "one of the better restaurants" in town, so we decided to try it out.

Being a Saturday evening, we arrived to find that we were the only couple under age 60. Furthermore, my wife and I like to dress up on Saturday night and we felt completely overdressed (with me wearing a button-down and khaki pants). The food was good, but the service was not what we expected for a "nicer restaurant". My wife ordered an item on the Daily Special insert, only to find out that was the previous day's insert and item was not available. After reviewing the wine list, our waiter said "go ahead and pick a 2 or 3 bottles off the list because we are out of a few in the back". Hmmm.... definately not what we expected. We even noticed that "old person" smell to the place, like you'd notice when you walk into your grandma's house.

While the owners were friendly and food was satisfactory, I'll probably won't return to this place unless my retired parents are in town.    [14 Apr 2004 12:55:01]

New Orleans decor, food excellent, carries rare wines. If you go in there you'll spend three to four hours to eat. Above moderate price.    [06 Jul 2004 14:50:07]

I love Walter's of Park Ridge
My husband and I try to get by Walter's whenever we're in town. We visit them quite often from St. Louis. The service is great( Joe )and very friendly. And the ambiance is unique and it makes this place very special.    [14 Apr 2007 01:09:07]
