Authentic Japanese in the Suburb!
This is as close as I have come to authentic Japanese cusine in the Chicagoland area. The sushi and sashimi are always very fresh, the cutes of the fish are not too shabby either. Besides all the uncooked dishes, Daruma also offers a variety of authentic cooked Japanese dishes such as Chawamushi (a steamed seafood egg custer), Beef Yanagawa (a soupy beefy dish) and authentic Japanese moutain pickeled vegetables that may not be familiar for Chicagoans. On the creative side, Daruma offers a variety of different creative maki rolls as well as cooked dishes. Among the 'creative' side, the Killer of Tongue is a Mexican & Japanese breed, fresh tuna fish is rolled in a crunchy roll, open end, deep fried and top with a spicy jalapino guagamole sauce.
