beyond the normal american cuisine
This place is great. Whenever I visit from Seattle, this is a restaurant that I always look forward to eating at. It's a family run place with a great lunch buffet. It is great to find a restaurant in Springfield that serves beyond the regular american cuisine.    [02 Aug 2004 01:13:56]

Great Vegetarian Buffet
Holy Land features an all-vegetarian buffet every Saturday night. Among other things, it includes lentil soup, greek salad, falafal, pitas, cucumber sauce, hummus, baklava, feta, and lots of other yummies. I've not experienced a lot of Greek food, but this is mighty delicious, and cheap!    [12 Mar 2005 12:17:57]

Great for vegetarian out of towners staying in downtown hotels
This place was a real find. It is just across from the old capitol building just a short walk from the Springfield Hilton hotel.

We came for the all-vegetarian buffet ($7.99 some vegan) and enjoyed heaping piles of fresh salad (no iceberg junk here!), falafil, tomato salad, hummas, feta, 4 different kinds of olives, fava beans, and wonderful lentil soup, three hot dishes. Soda was about $1 extra and was bottomless.

The food is Lebanese and a real treat for fresh and yummy vegetarian food in in Springfield. We had the Baklava and soft serve ice cream for an after dinner treat. Worth the trip.

The seating and set up are very simple buffet style, and the place is very laid back and seems to be run by an older husband-wife team who are helpful and yet leave you alone.

I also liked that they had traditional middle eastern hot sauces at the buffet.    [14 Aug 2006 20:50:06]

My favorite restaurant in the country
We always plan a visit to Springfield around eating here. A note about previous reviews, they have moved across downtown. I always leave stuffed and happy.    [12 Oct 2008 09:50:42]
