Few like it still exist Brock's Family Restaurant, located at 109 N. Main St. in Brownstown, has been in business since the 1960s. Since then, it has gained a good reputation in the community, serving as the un-official gathering place on Sundays after church and the meeting place for community service groups, such as the Lion's Club and the Exchange Club. Brock's makes much of their food from the "raw" materials: mashed potatoes, pies and crusts, rolls, noodles, biscuits, meatloaf, salmon patties, coleslaw, potato salad, hotcake mix, celery seed dressing, fried chicken, and gravies, just to name a few. Their dinner specials include a main-course meat, 2 vegetables, a salad, and bread, all for under $5 (as of this date), except on Sundays, when the main-course meat gets a little bigger. The place is truly a home-style restaurant and would fit "diner" status if it were a bit smaller. The service is great, and the owners are dedicated, honest people. [29 Apr 2005 03:52:33]
