Best Shrimp in NW Indiana Bob's Shrimp is a small and simple carry-out restaurant. You might have a bit of a wait, but it's worth it. Don't expect great ambiance or a charming wait staff -- just the best shrimp in the area. [26 Jul 2003 15:31:10]

Just Good Shrimp & Fish!!!! I live in Chicago...I don't eat fried shrimp & fish anywhere other than Bob's. It has the best flavor (batter), not over cooked, and definitely not over battered. What I like most is when you pick the shrimp up, the batter doesn't separate from the shrimp!
Downside: THEY HAVE CLOSED ON SUNDAYS!!!! This used to be where I would get my Sunday dinner!!! [23 Jun 2006 23:03:10]

Best Shrimp In NW Indiana - But Lacks Consistent Service Bob's Shrimp provides the best Southern-Style (lightly breaded in a cornmeal base) shrimp and "seafood" selections. Their fries, however, are lacking. The other selections on the menu seem to wax and wane between very good and fair because there are inconsistent standards of cleanliness and freshness in the shop, depending upon who is the shift supervisor. The "clam strips" are horrible, but the sea scallops are good (but fail to rise to New Orleans or Boston standards). The frog legs are nothing to write home about, and the catfish has competition from other southern-style outlets in the region. But the shrimp is the best in Lake or Porter Counties... Get the large shrimp for the best bargain and skip the "dinners" in favor of the ala carte offerings. [30 Jun 2006 19:17:30]

Help wanted! The food is good, particularly the jumpo shrimp. However, it isn't worth the trouble of dealing with such a discourteous, boorish staff. The "help wanted" sign in the window front says it all. Bob, please do hire someone decent to work at your establishment before you lose all your customers! [14 Feb 2007 16:28:08]
