Expensive but worth the price At first I was a little overcome by the Nordic decor and prices on the menu. But after we ordered and waited a little while for our food to come, we were all shocked at the portions. The catfish was an entire catfish and the small Freddy's steak special was 14 oz., both delicious. So, overall the meal was well worth the price. [18 Sep 2004 22:58:51]

Not just a steak house Went to Freddy's on recommendation from a friend. Being lent season, I had the lake perch and shrimp combo. I was extremely pleased with the portions. The perch and shrimp were lightly breaded and sauteed in olive oil. My meal came with a large double-baked potato, salad, soup and a tasty loaf of warm bread with honey butter and a roasted half-bulb of garlic!!!
My wife got the Frog Legs which were also prepared in olive oil with a light breading. Both of these meals were very good and our server was very personable and was very funny and really lightened our mood after a long work day.
After we got done eating, we sat at the bar and had a few cocktails and listened to Carl Anthony who was the entertainment for the evening. He was very talented and went around the restaurant while he sang. Something you don't see that often when you are dining at a restaurant.
I was hesitant about getting seafood at a steakhouse, but after the good food and entertainment, I would recommend Freddy's to anyone. I was glad I listened to my friend's recommendation. [13 Mar 2006 14:07:57]

Not changed much First time I've been to Freddys since it changed hands. The bread is a big improvement, the prime rib was the best because it was broiled, now it is not. It is just like any other prime rib. I will not go back. [08 Jun 2006 00:21:58]

Vast improvement I've been to Kelsey's, Gino's, Jack Gibbons in Oak Forest and I can honestly say Freddy's has the best steak and seafood, hands down. It is an exceptional value for the price because you get choice of potato, bread basket with a yummy roasted bulb of garlic and honey butter, relish tray, salad AND homemade soup! WHEW! I filled up on the pre-mail fixins!
They have the best prime rib around, from what I understand, they slow cook it for several hours. Tuesdays they have a bone-in prime rib that is 2.5 lbs. for $24.95 that is worth every penny. I challenge anyone to eat this with all of this plus soup, salad, potato, etc.
My friend had grouper, and I tried it and I never had it but it was a delicous piece of fish. The batter was light, crispy and a gave the fish very nice flavor.
Good wine and dessert selection! I was there on Tuesday, but I understand they have entertainment on weekends, which the Hammond area needs.
Try Freddy's if you have not, or go back if you haven't been there in awhile! It is one of the steak houses within a 40 mile radius! [22 Aug 2006 09:41:45]

Big Hearty Meals at a Reasonable Price! If you are used to the prices and portions in Chicago, watch out! The meals here are HUGE and very well prepared. The prices are also a shocker, compared to Chicago prices... very reasonable. Service is excellent although the kitchen can be a bit slow, when busy. However, it is worth the wait. Besides, this is a place to sit back, relax and enjoy a leisurely meal. Highly recommended. [04 Nov 2006 21:28:45]
