The King of Pizza House of Pizza is one of the longest-standing pizza restaurants in the area. Why? Because they're the best! Whether you want to dine in, carry out, or have your pizza delivered, House of Pizza is the place to go.
Their dining room is ample and comfy. Their smoking area is separated from their non-smoking area so that everyone is comfortable. In addition to pizza, they offer an extensive menu of delicious appetizers, salads, pasta, chicken, sandwiches and more. They also have a full bar, so you can enjoy a drink with dinner.
Their wait staff is exceptionally friendly and courteous and their prices are more than reasonable. [26 Jul 2003 15:59:54]

EXCELLENT PIZZA! The best pizza in the Chicagoland area since Donatello's closed. Donatello's was owned by HOP and made almost the same pizza, except that HOP uses flour on the bottom of the pie instead of cornmeal, which is a much better taste. I should know, I used to work there. I defy any other pizza place to put out as good a pizza. Nardi's in the western suburbs is very nearly as good. Chicago's Best is excellent and is a great value. Dominick's in Villa Park has better pasta, and a pie in the same class. If you are in the Calumet Region though, House of Pizza can't be beat!
P.S. Most NW Indiana places are better than the ones actually in Chicago (Gino's East tops the list for the city). The worst place in Chicagoland beats ANY PIZZA outside the area (with the possible exception of the east coast...I've heard that New York and New Jersey are very nearly equal with us). Best pizza anywhere Where else can you get a great pizza(giant size)with big steak fries? No where but here. The service is always good and always a good atmosphere. Even has a party room and bar [15 Jan 2004 22:02:07]

Nations Best Unknown Pizza House of Pizza is a Hessville, and Hammond, landmark. It is, simply, the best pizza anywhere. Yet, that fact is some kind of local, Region secret. Even homeboy Jean Shepherd, of A Christmas Story fame, who lived down the road on Cleveland Street, was known to grab a pie while in town. HOP serves what amounts to a 'real' Chicago pizza. Flat, thin crusted and square cut. Nothing fancy. One secret is their special made sausage, which is a guarded recipe.
For out of towners, or true pizza nuts fleeing Hammond at a rapid clip, you can exit I94 at Indianapolis Blvd (North) and drive about a half mile to hit the HOP. I really advise you to do so. This place is the best.
Also recommend the Italian Beef sandwich and the cold beer on tap.
God bless HOP, and the memory of the Bowl Era! [25 Mar 2006 20:22:43]

Best Pizza Yes, this is the best pizza in town. Yes, service is always friendly and fast and prices are always low. Definitely a must try and get the water if you are from out of town and drink bottled water; their water is better than your paid for bottled water! [16 Jun 2007 04:24:46]

The best pizza--bar none-- THe sauce is great and the sauage has a great taste. I have been ordering for years and still do not get tired of it.. If you dine in--the service is great and the wait staff are always at their best. The food I have ordered besides the pizza has been good... [26 Oct 2007 18:39:46]

Confused O.K., I must be the only person around that thinks the pizza at House of Pizza leaves a lot to be desired, the other food at this restaurant is very good especially the brosted chicken, but the pizza is not good, the sauce tastes weighed down with some type of alchohol, the cheese is not used enough and the toppings are scarce. The House dressing for their salads is great though, so are their sandwiches. [19 Apr 2008 13:18:14]
