Do you train your employees? Last Monday, we went to celebrate my husband's birthday. We decided to go to applebee's since is a short drive from home.
First Detail: The employee told my husband that if he could probe it was his birthday, he would get a free Sunday. I found this strange, since we have never been required to probe anything and it is kind of nice to inspire trust that we are not going to lie just to get a free dessert.
Second: As I looked again in a separated sheet on the table, I discovered that on Mondays, Tuesdays + (other day, I believe Thursdays) there is a Combo for 10.95 that included the appetizer, plate and dessert for 10.95. Unfortunately, the employee never mentioned the deal, so right after I asked for a Honey grill salmon, I decided to trade it for the Italian combo. The employee never asked me what type of dessert I wanted, and what is most, when I asked for the Cheese Cake offered in the combo, he added it to my bill. As I looked to my bill and I was getting ready to pay, I discovered that the Salmon that I decided to trade for the combo appeared on my bill as well as the cheese cake (that was supposed to be included with my combo).
When we left, my husband tipped generously the employee and I told him: "I would rather give him as a tip a calculator or a book on math. A mistake of $14.95 on a bill that shouldn't be 21 dollars is kind of a serious thing". I wonder how many times people invite guest and never care to look if they are charged the proper amount.
