Popular for Good Reason After driving through much of suburban Indianapolis without spotting a single place open for breakfast, a greeter at Wal-Mart finally tipped us off to the restaurants along 86th Street. We were dismayed to find that most of them were closed - but then we noticed the Sunrise Cafe's parking lot was nearly full. It was quite crowded and we barely fit in the front door, yet somehow we were seated within just a couple of minutes. Our server was really friendly, and when I asked for grapefruit juice - they were out of it - he helpfully suggested orange juice instead. I ordered an omelet and asked that tomato and green pepper be added to it; a few moments later I went out to the car to fetch something. When I came back my friend mentioned the server had forgotten what I wanted in my omelet, so I got up to find him - he had seen me come back in and was already on his way to confirm my order. The food came rather quickly (I didn't time it) and was quite good - they used real tomato and green pepper in the omelet, cut up by hand rather than diced by a food processor. The home fries were crispy on the outside and soft inside, just as they should be, though they could have used a bit more seasoning before making it to the table. The entrance area stayed full pretty much the entire time we were there, and although they were very busy someone managed to show up at the register right away so we could pay our bill. Quality food, fast and polite service, and open early in the morning. Great! (My sole complaint is the apparent lack of non-smoking section. If they had one, we weren't offered the opportunity to sit there, and I had to inhale the smoke from the next table instead. []
