Best Homemade Desserts in the Country
Have never tasted better strawberry shortcake and pies anywhere; and where else (besides Texas) could you ever find a great green grape pie like they had at Grays almost 20 years ago...wish they would bring it back!    [04 Mar 2003 14:02:31]

Need accoustic tiles in ceiling
The food is great - but they really need accoustical tiles in the ceiling - when the dining room is full- which it usually is - the noise level rises to an uncomfortable level.    [11 Mar 2003 22:23:00]

This Place is Awesome!
I have been going to Gray's for about 20 years now. I have never had anything I didn't like there. My favorites are fried chicken and noodles. They are the best! We live in Plainfield & my extended family goes there quite often to celebrate birthdays & special days. We all love it - everyone from age 4 thru 70 has something wonderful to eat. The prices are very reasonable & it is very clean. In all these years I have never had a bad experience at Gray's. You can't go wrong. They have all kinds of food and it is all delicious!    [09 Apr 2003 17:18:21]

Very Good
I am not big on cafeteria food, but Gray's is excellent. I have been eating at Gray's since I was a little girl, and I still love it.    [11 Jun 2003 11:18:44]

Disappointed
My wife and I went to the new Gray Brothers in Bloomington, monday, 6-23.
It was our first visit. On the positive side, the food quality was great, the decor though good was a bit overdone. The food serving staff was very good and we were served promptly without waiting for THEM.
There is so much unutilized space. What exactly does the lady at the desk at the front entrance do? She did not speak let alone greet us as she did others.
The cashier was friendly with the customers behind me and my wife, BUT, she never said a word to us other than the total amount. After we were seated, we saw several people being aided by several helpers, but, no one was around to help me and my wife...at no time!
Our waitress or hostess, or whatever she was, finally come to our table after spending a good ten minutes cleaning off another table that had only two occupants before. She was so slow I do not understand with unemployment as it is why better people cannot be hired.
We got one refill of our drinks. My ice tea was out of ice. Did she even offer me more ice?...NO! Trying to get her attention was next to impossible unless you were a co-worker which she gabbed with most of the time we were there.
As we left the lady at the desk was dusting the decor, never said good-bye, thank you, or anything.....she did greet some others who left in front and behind us gushing all over them and invited them back.
Exactly what is the big deal about Gray Brothers in Bloomington? Same thing as MCL only larger in my book.
Will I return.....Depends on whether anyone of responsibility from Gray Bros contacts me as I am not ashamed and do not care to hide behind anomity. If you are a responsible person from Gray Bros. in Bloomington, please, email me.    [24 Jun 2003 12:59:39]

I Love Gray's!!
I only get to visit Gray's every now and then when I visit my wonderful in-laws, Bob & Fran Hankins in Mooresville. I love the food - especially the shrimp, and the cheesecake is also wonderful. Everything I've had has been just great. Wonderful selection and really good service. Nice people.    [29 Jun 2003 01:57:32]

Satisfaction guaranteed
Even though I have lived near Mooresville all of my life [graduate], the fact that people come from so far away just to eat there should speak for itself. Today I noticed an 84f plate, which I know comes from 150 mi. away. Also the portions they give you are huge. Pie slices that you wouldn't believe the size. If you go away hungry you must be an elephant.    [25 Nov 2003 23:46:51]

When my mother was pregnant with one of us, she used to work there. I grew up in Mooresville and the food here is superb. Our office is having our Christmas dinner there. I guess I have been going there for over 30 years. We no longer live in Mooresville, but we make the trek down every so often.    [11 Dec 2003 11:02:15]

Great family restaurant
I have been eating at Gray's since I was a youngster, over 25 years. I have never had a bad experience. Like many of the other people have written, we have had many family gatherings at Gray's over the years. When I was in the military it was always the first place I wanted to eat when I came home. I now live in Alaska, and when I come home to visit next week it will be where my family gathers to visit with me for the first time in 3 long years. Gray's is part of our family, and always will be. I know what every memeber of my immediate family will order by heart    [20 Mar 2004 23:37:07]
