Little Chef Diner The place is small only ten stools. However, the food is top notch and if you did'nt have to pay for it you could call it home cooking. It does not have the fast food appeal. You get to also view food as its being prepared. No styrofoam plates or sporks. Normal dinnerware. The prices are cheap and alot of people come not only for the food but the atmosphere. A person can go someplace else if they simply want to eat. The little chef is an icon of downtown New Albany, Indiana. Has been running continously since its doors opened in the 50s. Another way to describe it is it is like the tv show Cheers except for booze you got food. Most of the customers are known by name. The owner even buys birthday cards for customers; calls them if they have'nt been around or if one passes away she sends flowers. The place is small but has good food; good prices and a heart of gold. [09 Nov 2006 05:42:35]
