I Go Here at Least Once a Week A wonderful place. Especially when you become a regular, the service is that much better.

Taqueria Style but Good Food The inside of this place is pretty much like a cafeteria, but the food is very authentic. I have had the breakfast plates under $4.00, steak and chicken tacos under $2, and tostadas under $2 and they are all authentic in steak, chicken, lengua, or avocado/vegetarian.
They make and prepare the chips from scratch and you can see them frying them. The chips are served with authentic hot sauce and pico sauce – not the tomato soup that passes for Salsa at most places. The Guacamole (large) was huge and made fresh and only $4.00.
I did not try but did see several of the huge burritos here, and they looked as good as the tacos and tostadas we ordered. I suggest that you order the tacos in the double corn tortillas. They are better in corn than flour – really! Often the best Mexican food comes without the hats, flags, and silly “craftsman” chairs, tables and Aztec wall hangings. The taqueria is where most standard Mexican food can be had in the United States, and El Amigo is one such place.
It was also a treat to have the Mexican Coke available in bottles – this stuff is made with cane sugar and you can tell. If you remember what Coke used to taste like in the 1960s, you will enjoy this blast from the past with your tacos. [20 Sep 2005 18:28:28]
