Our group includes one wheelchair-bound member who requires assistance for seating. However, the staff is most attentive, and often opens up the overflow side of the restaurant (separate outer door) just to accommodate us. On some occassions we leave the chair in an alcove; on others we may place the chair at a table (as both booths and tables are available). We also have seen other wheelchair-bound patrons at the restaurant. The restroom(s) are also handicap-equipped, although the toilet paper dispenser is ill-positioned and out of reach for a disabled person.

Lexington is lucky Lexington is lucky to have such a fine restaurant. In a larger city, this would be a $50/plate restaurant. They even make their own vegetarian "chicken" (called kwachik) which is even better than the real thing. Attentive staff, nice accommodations, and the best Asian food around--you can't go wrong at Winds! [01 Apr 2004 17:47:01]

Yum. great, great food. I had sesame tofu and it was the best cooked tofu I've ever had. I also tasted the kwachic at the recommendation of a friend and I truely believe it to be the best artificial meat dish I have ever tasted. The service was good; prompt and courteous, and I found the atmosphere to be very pleasant. This place has become one of my favorite restaurants and I plan to return to it often. Mr. Hsiung Yao (Mr. 'Harrison') Makes Dining Experience Exceptional! Our group has dined at Lexington, Kentucky's Asian Wind for about two years, now. First, and foremost, is the head-waiter (officially, or not), Mr. Hsiung Yao, who calls himself 'Harrison'. (Interestingly enough, Asian Wind's owner is referred to as 'George'. (George / Harrison -- Get it?) At any rate, Mr. Harrison is the primary reason to visit Asian Wind! Yes, the food is beyond belief! However, Mr. Harrison adds the character you require to experience the true, unbelievable delight of oriental dining at its best! Asian Wind is a most singular opportunity to lose yourself in Asian dining. Regardless of what you order, you will be amazed! If you are particularly hungry, ask for the dinner menu. It will cost you more, but you will find yourself overstuffed! I particularly recommend the Kwachik hot & sour soup for two (2)! The Kwachik is a soy-based meat substitute which is supplied from Westerville, Ohio, and tastes like God Almighty must have made it! There is a companion version called Kwabif, which is a soy-based replacement for actual beef. If you prefer seafood (the real thing), then I suggest you order any of their excellent shrimp dishes. You will walk away in a state of questionably-legal euphoria. [29 Apr 2005 22:57:01]

This restaurant is great all-around! This place saved Lexington Asian cuisine after the city forced August Moon out of business. [29 Nov 2005 21:06:28]

Would definitely recommend! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves different, tasty Chinese food. I am not a vegetarian, but tried the Kwachik and it was so good, I now get it every time I go! I usually try different dishes, so it is hard to give a recommended dish, but I always either get the crab ragoon or a bowl of hot-and-sour soup to start off with. They are both excellent! Nothing I have ever eaten there has tasted bad - you can't go wrong with Wind! [12 May 2006 16:18:09]

Truly World-Class! I've eaten in Asian restaurants all over the country and in other parts of the world. The ambience is nice, but not spectacular or opulent. However, the food is luxuriously flavoured, and consistently perfect. [03 Aug 2006 13:21:48]

As Always -- Flawless! Our party of three (used to be four, when our mother was with us), has eaten at Asian Wind off-and-on since we were a foursome. Never a disappointment! Asian Wind is THE PLACE to visit when you ABSOLUTELY MUST have a memorable dining experience.
You will love Mr. Harrison. (Everybody else is special, too!) And the colorless plum wine yet outranks anything else with pigment. Around 4:00 P.M., you can expect the dinner menu. It may set you back $11.00, or higher, but you'll thank your lucky five-stars you procrastinated!
The darndest thing is that, when you arrive, they'll even seat you at your favorite booth or table, all without your having uttered a syllable. This HAS to be Lexington, Kentucky's #1 restaurant!
Mr. 'Harrison' tells me there is another restaurant in town, run by 'George'. It's based on traditional American cuisine. Some day, we'll try to pry ourselves away from Asian Wind long enough to give it a try. [12 Aug 2006 23:16:48]

Ask for George's hot sauce As a very longtime patron because of the vegetarian/vegan entrees, I must make everyone aware that, on request, you can order George's hot sauce to accompany your order. It's homemade, and makes the Tofu with Vegetable dish out of this world. (I wish brown rice were available.) [23 Sep 2006 16:05:39]
