Great place, especially at lunch.
I love Natasha’s. My wallet will tell a different story. The lunch buffet is a wonderful spread of tantalizing and comforting concoctions. The stews will never disappoint nor will the addicting garlicky salad dressing. There are many spreads, salads, and sides to choose from ranging from hummus to potato salad. The Midnight Chicken and Gypsy Stew are not to be missed. Coffee and tea is another great Natasha’s offering.

The sadness hits when you find your small plate not big enough to fill with all the choices presented. The price of the buffet is judged on the weight of your food; it is not an all-you-can-eat buffet. I find this a rather heartbreaking way of controlling the diner’s pocketbook, appetite, and options. On a day when you need to save money, but want great buffet-style Mediterranean food, head over to The Oasis in Chevy Chase.

The servers and counter workers are always very accommodating and helpful. The dinner menu is wonderful. Although, for someone who appreciates the eclectic Natasha’s, I find it overpriced. It is hard to genuinely accept the diverse image it conveys when those that love that diversity can’t afford the experience.

I love this place
I've eaten here a few times for both lunch and dinner. Lunch was fun, but I'm not into buffets, especially as you are paying by the weight, not per head.

So I recommend going when they are playing music for dinner. It's a great atmosphere and they have the best borscht I have ever eaten.    [10 Jan 2006 08:36:21]

Eclectic cuisine and atmosphere
We were immediately drawn in by the worldly charm of this enchanting bistro! The ambiance is exotic—with surroundings of art and decor rich in culture and history.

The food is equally as tantalizing.

The eclectic menu was impressive-- with delicious selections from around the world-- including Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Asian, and even some local favorites. We started off with the Mediterranean sampler— including Baba ghanouj, hummus, tabouli, and mushroom salad-- the hummus is the best I’ve had anywhere. For our main attractions we went the variety circuit: a spinach pesto pizza, the midnight chicken (curry), sweet chili stir-fry, and the shipwreck pasta (seafood medley in a parmesan cream sauce!). We topped off the meal with some fine Turkish coffee.

A perfect evening!    [21 Jun 2006 21:13:50]

Terrible Service
It was 25 minutes before an employee came to our table, and only then because we flagged him down. Turns out we flagged down the owner...our server had been hovering at tables nearby but never once even greeted us even when we tried to get his attention. It was an hour and a half before we got our bread and appetizers, and we refilled our own drinks at the bar.

Finally my dinner partner's soup arrived (my salad was still nowhere to be seen), and mere moments later our meals arrived. They were lukewarm at best, and barely fit on the tiny table because our empty glasses and appetizer tray hadn't been taken away.

I had the Hungarian Goulash, which might have been decent if it were warm. But it was basically just fancy mashed potatoes, and wouldn't have been worth the $16 they were charging for it even if the service had been good.

While we were complaining to the owner about the service after we had finished our meal, our server showed his face with my salad. The owner never once apologized, was very sarcastic and snarky the entire conversation, and at one point said very snarkily, "We had hoped most of clientele tonight would be understanding, and MOST of them have been."    [21 Jan 2009 13:35:14]
