There are great beers, and extensive wine list and always a collection of friendly people. The Midway is in the heart of the Bluegrass so be prepared to watch and talk a little horse racing when you’re there. You do not receive enormous piles of food on your plate. You receive the correct amount of food and I have never left there feeling hungry. I recommend the spinach and goats cheese starter. During the summer months they have live outside entertainment. [] My husband I tried two weekends in a row to eat here. The first weekend there was a sign posted that stated they were booked for lunch despite the fact that there were 4-5 empty tables. We later learned that they had a wedding party and that took up all their time. We thought that we would try again the next Saturday. We arrived at 11:30 (the time that they were to open) and were told that due to a party the previous night they would be opening late and for us to please come back in an hour. What poor business practices. Personally I will not bother with them again. There are so many other great eateries in Midway (Holly Hill Inn, Heirlooms, Qwirk, Wallace Station, etc.) that The Black Tulip will not have to worry about taking my money ever again. [14 Jul 2007 22:01:45] I was guest of honor at a surprise retirement get-together at The Black Tulip. Everything was wonderful, tables set on the patio, wine bottles in buckets on the tables, platters of cheeses, fruit and Italian meats. The atmosphere was casual, yet somewhat elegant. Other than reserving the space and very minimal ideas from family members, the staff planned the food and gave excellent service. A wonderful evening! [25 Aug 2007 18:21:24] Wonderful
