Owensboro is not the Bar-B-Q Capital of the World for Nothing!!!
Moonlite is one of a kind. That is my only complaint, I wish there was one on every street corner. When you eat there, you'll wish there was one close to your home too. Casual Dining with a family feel. Skip the menu and head straight for the Buffet. It was every thing July's 2000 Gourmet magazine said it was. Mysteriously dubbed “the best” BBQ in Owensboro…
Moonlite has food comparable to every other cheap buffet. The side dishes, such as mashed potatoes taste like a cardboard box and the sauces used are rather bland and you will not leave already planning a return visit. If you truly want THE best BBQ in Owensboro make a Bee line straight to Old Hickory. On the upside, I was rather amused when Bill Clinton came to my little city on his campaign for presidency and shut down Moonlite just so he could pick up a take out order. The dumba** missed out. I drive to Owensboro three or more times
a year to visit this great little town
for the weekend and eat at the Moonlite
