I miss it so much.
I left Abita for Chattanooga 3 years ago and still miss Saturday mornings at the Abita Cafe with the family. I have never eaten breakfast in a place with such great food and small town community cafe atmosphere. The Grilled Angel Biscuits with Gravy are something you will make a special effort to come back for.    [31 Dec 2006 11:27:53]

Mmmmm...good!
I recently ate again at the Abita Springs Cafe, this time with a small group of friends. I was impressed with the job Steve and Trudie Herbert have done with the place. Trudie, having an artist's eye has painted the second interior room teal and resurfaced the main dining area. She has hung pictures depicting the local flair of the area throughout the place. The restaurant is bright and clean, and the tables have fresh cut flowers. The food was served in a timely manner, and was hot and delicious. One of Steve's special(s) of the day was fish, grilled to perfection with a delightful sauce draped over it. I like the fact that the sauce was used to compliment the flavor of the fish and not to overpower it. I would recommend, and have recommended, this place to others looking for a place with a homey feeling and old world charm that also has excellent food. I plan to return often.    [14 Mar 2007 10:41:00]
