Inconsistant Sometimes the boiled seafood is excellent and at other times it is barely edible.
Too much inconsistancy. [28 Oct 2003 15:24:10]

Atlantans keep coming back It's a bit hard to find if you don't know exactly where to look, but well worth the effort. Neadless to say, we were looking for seafood & found plenty of it. On our first trip the special was all you can eat fried oysters. Right up my alley! My second plate they were happy to comply with my request that they not be quite as done. The tea was good & sweet & lots of it and they keep it comming. Plenty of trimmings like fries & hushpuppies. Second trip: hoped for same but there was a different special & I ordered the fried combo platter. Some in our party ordered half & half shrimp and oyster & all were full & delighted. The bathroom lines are long, so don't wait till the last minute. The tartar sauce is unique, its a bit on the thin side (a good thing becuse most tartur is heavy & greasy and you can't eat much of it). I tried to duplicate it at home and came pretty close, but can't wait for my next trip & the real thing. [08 Jan 2004 13:05:34]

A great place to be Salvo's is a great place for seafood, boiled and fried. The beer is cold and food hot, great quality at an affordable price. Salvo's caters to a wide variety of patrons from military, locals, vacationers, and more! There may not be four stars on the window, but is worth the trip down into Belle Chasse. always good I grew up in Belle Chasse, eating there a lot with my family. Once I grew up and moved out of my parents' home, I barely ever got there. However, since the storm I'm back in Belle Chasse and Salvo's is STILL incredible. The food is always seasoned well and they have great specials. [03 Jan 2007 12:43:22]

Great service The food was great and the service was better. The crew is very laid back and gives a very warm and welcoming environment, plus the young guy in the kitchen is very cute, ladies! [26 Mar 2007 03:21:29]

Something to Remember I was in New Orleans for Jazz Fest a few years back, before the storm and this place was recommended in our Westbank hotel's guide. So we ventured out and boy was it worth it! I had the crawfish, shrimp, and rock claws all you can eat dinner. They brought it out on this huge platter with pieces of hotdogs, potatoes, garlic, and corn. The aroma was amazing.
After the storm I was heart broken because I could not remember the name of the place or the address and was just hoping it didn't get wiped away. I caught up with someone on the internet who lives in New Orleans and, as dumb as it sounds, when I described the place he knew exactly where it was and reassured me it is still open. I only ate there once, but I guess that just goes to show you how great it was since my visit has been at least 3 or 4 years ago. Thankfully it wont be much longer, my sister and I are attending Jazz Fest 2007 and will definitely be making a visit to Salvo's. I suggest you do the same, you wont regret it! [17 Apr 2007 11:12:39]
