Restaurant des Familles Awesome food.... even better atmosphere. True Southern Louisiana cuisine. [30 May 2002 12:31:42]

Native Son's Favorite I'm a native of Marrero who has lived in Ohio for the past 7 years. Every time I get back home, I try to make it to Restaurant des Familles for lunch or dinner. The building is themed as a large Cajun cottage with wrap around porch, and it sits litterally a few yards from the bayou. I've watched gators swimming, turtles sunning, and fish jumping during lunch. The food is top notch, with great upscale variations on local favorites, all at reasonable prices and very friendly service. [05 Feb 2004 05:06:35]

Westbank Restaurant Des Hit Des Familles is an excellent dining experience. It's great for the whole family but my wife and I like it just for ourselves. It's our little "Kid Free Dining Zone". We celebrate all of our significant occasions there. We love the food, service, ambiance, and the prices are just right. [10 Jun 2005 17:01:19]

One of my favorites I live in Luling, LA and it took me 5 years to get back here. What a shame! The food is great and the serice excellent. The view of the bayou is truly amazing. I will make sure it doesn't take another 5 years before i'm back to enjoy again. In fact, I have reservation for this Friday night. Bon apetite.
P.S. My compliments to the Chef! Thanks [09 Jan 2007 18:59:18]

What Bad Food and Service! We wanted a great place to celebrate our Mother's 80th birthday. Our out of town family wanted something Cajun. We made a reservation for Sunday Brunch, the person who took the reservation said they would like to bring a bread pudding with a candle to make our celebration special. Well several people did not want the champagne and ordered ice tea (they charged an extra 2.00) When they brought the different courses no one bothered to clear the dishes from the previous order. By the time our entrees arrived our table was so cluttered there was no place to set the plates. So our waitress proceeded to hand each of us our plates, which were hot they were probably under some sort of heat light as the food itself was room temp. I just about flew off my seat when she handed my 80 year old mother the hot plate and she almost dropped it. I could go on and on but it is no use. The staff response was oh we are sorry you had a problem. They did not have a problem adding the 18% tip on which was over $70.00 for our group. There are so many great restaurants in this city please don't make the mistake of choosing this one [16 Aug 2008 12:17:59]
