I'm going back!
Prior to the hurricanes of last summer I had never been to Louisiana. I came as part of a church volunteer group late October early November to help clean up. My group was assigned to an area of Lafitte. In the afternoon several of us started talking about gumbo, oysters and other Cajun fare. The woman's home we were working on referred us to Voleo's, which was just up the street.
Voleo's had only been reopened for two days and did not have their full menu available, to which the owner's wife was more than apologetic. So there was disappointment as there was no gumbo or oysters. This did not last long, however, once we started in with our meals.
I don't recall what everyone else had but we were all in agreement as to how great of an experience we had. I ordered the combo plate, which was made up of various fried foods, but as I tell everyone that I could not taste any grease or oil. It was perfect! Even to this day as we reminisce on this great experience to serve others we always end the conversation with how great the food is at Voleo's.

I will be relocating to southern Mississippi to start a new job in a couple of weeks. Once we get settled and the weather cools a little bit, I will be taking my family to Voleo's to experience the great service and food that I had the pleasure of experiencing.    [27 Jun 2006 12:56:09]
