Incredibly disastrous meal Yesterday, my family and I dined at Andreas. Everything we read about the place was positive. We have eaten some of the best examples of Italian cuisine in NYC, SF and St. Louis. So we were expecting something at least close to authentic Italian. Instead what we got was terrible food and even worse service.
All the pastas we ordered were bland and with very little sauce or flavor. The ravioli stuffed with meat and mushrooms had bits of bone ground up in it. The stuffed veal chop had no stuffing and it was lamb not veal. The linguine with basil pesto was made with parsley not basil.
To make matters worse, the service was totally inept. The garcon got all the orders wrong, no one even offered freshly ground pepper or grated cheese. The correct utensils to eat with were not provided. When we made our displeasure known to the waiter, we asked to talk to the chef. Instead he implied that we didn't know anything about Italian food and asked the Maitre'd to come to our table and offer complimentary drinks and dessert. No apologies or refunds were offered even though the Maitre'd admitted that the pasta was terrible.
We declined his offer, asked for our check and looked for the nearest Olive Garden.
If you appreciate good food, please don't eat here. You are far better off staying home and opening a can of Chef Boyardee.
It is difficult to imagine that this place is highly rated with 5 stars. If Chef Andreas knows good Italian food, he certainly is not sharing it with his clientèle. [01 Jan 2004 14:58:05]

PRICES!!!! Wow! What has happened to the PRICES!!! Example: Early Bird went from $13.95 to $24.95. At my last (and for now I really mean my LAST meal)the fish was dry and over cooked. The potatoes were hard and rewarmed and the portions were smaller. The wait staff was nice as ever. The hurricane has been the blame for the price increase. Whose fault is the food's decrease? I loved this place, usually catching 3 or 4 dinners and an early bird each month... NOT ANYMORE!! Please chef Andrea DO SOMETHING!!! I love your place and want to try it again, but not to I hear or read of some favorable reviews. PLEASE, PLEASE work on it Chef! [24 Jun 2006 19:53:10]

nice place The meal was good and the service was excellent. I liked everything and I was not rushed. I had a gnochi with pesto and the house pinot noir. My date had seafood gumbo and grilled trout with spinach. We spent less than a hundred dollars. Good experience. [14 Nov 2007 17:32:49]
