Outstanding Cuisine, Excellent Owner
Small and quaint would be appropriate adjectives here.
Situated in a cozy cottage in the Riverbend area of New Orleans, this restaurant is one of my favorites.
The staff is knowledgable and attentive and the mood is friendly yet somehow you still feel quite catered to.
While we were there, the chef came out with a "new creation" and asked the diners if they would like complimentary portions to see whether or not to include it in future menus.
Needless to say, it was outstanding.
Excellent choice for a first date or a romantic interlude.
I definitely would not bring business partners there, though; unless you have *ahem* other interests...    [17 Jul 2003 20:20:36]

A Disappointing Experience
Cafe Volage had been a restaurant I enjoyed over the years. A recent experience on Valentine's Day ruined this. Despite having reservations weeks in advance,we were seated in a crowded back room with a poor server. We were given no notice in advance that there would be a "Special" limited 5-course menu. Our server neglected to provide the advertised sorbet, delivered food VERY slowly, coffee was cold and she overcharged us for wine. When corrected, she was argumentative and rude. Apparent regular customers were fawned over at our expense. We, apparently, were invisible or unimportant. The food was good, but not up to their normal quality. The owner declined to take any action to save our future patronage, merely mumbling that he would "take care of it". Patronize Cafe Volage at your own risk. If you're a regular, you'll probably be OK. If not, choose from among New Orleans' many other good restaurants. It's probably less risky.    [16 Feb 2004 12:00:35]
