So Much Room for Improvement I chose New Asia as a stop on my way home one snowy night for take-away food. I passed the place frequently enough - as well as its other branches, but never tried it. The reviews on the door were enticing enough and when I stepped in and eventually received my order, I was eager to try the food.
Beyond the all too cream-cheesy crab rangoon, the food suffered from the classic New England malaise of blandness. This Chinese food, flavorful in principal, was yearning for minimal dollops of soy sauce. The fish dishes we ordered were very fresh, but bland as hell. Vegetables were crisp and stir fried but again, a mix of disorganized flavors that did not come across too well.
The prices were not really cheap either.
Arlington offers several other Chinese restaurants and I would recommend them anytime over the New Asia. [10 Nov 2002 21:36:37]

Other Locations Are Better The food we ordered was bland, took 50 minutes to come, and the order was delivered incomplete. They charged a $2 delivery charge that isn't mentioned in the menu. To top it all off, when we called about the order being incomplete, they refused to send the delivery guy out with a rest of the order. The best they would offer (after much back and forth - their initial offer was to suggest we just accept we paid for food we didn't get or, in the alternative, drive to their store to pick up the missing half a dish) was to "give us a credit" for the missing half a dish on our next order. We weren't going to order from them again after this experience and I have no confidence that they will acknowledge that they offered us this if we do call again. To top it off, the food was mediocre at best, and more expensive than other local places. In sum, bad experience, mediocre food, high prices coupled with an unexpected delivery fee. Their Belmont and Somerville locations are better. [04 Dec 2005 08:42:28]
