Watery I am a Trinidadian living in Boston for almost 20 years. I am a "professional" roti maker that has been making roti for years and have never tasted a roti so terrible (not to be mean, but the truth is the truth) in my life. Trini to Trini I only want success for the company (all 3 of them) but the roti skin itself is not enjoyable, the curry is ok but the roti skin is the main problem. The roti skin needs to have more channa and seasonings. Once I see a roti has not had enough channa its not a real roti it is just a piece of oily bread with no love. Do us all a favor in improving this for our fellow complaining Bostonians and also myself. [12 Dec 2002 14:59:58]

Great Food - Spicy, Unassuming, Delightful I don't know what the previous reviewer is talking about. Each time I've visited Ali's Roti, the rotis have been perfect, especially with either the goat curry or with the shrimp/chicken combination. The best part is that you can spice it up as much as you like and you just have to tell them and they'll adjust this for you. Absolutely delicious food. [07 Jan 2003 16:59:17]

Delicious This food is some of the most incredibly tasty food I've ever had. I, being from Trinidad, am of course an expert on roti, and these people do it with style and class. The roti is cooked to that exact degree so that it has that crispy taste to it. The food portions are just enough that you are full, but not too much that you feel sick after. The restaurant owner mixes his own culture with some original Indian spices and curry imported straight from the islands. [02 Mar 2003 01:24:21]

Mmmmm Yummy I'm 28 and remember going there or ordering from there with my parents when I was 8. The place has not changed, nor the food, which is excellent. My sister called me the other day and asked to go there...memories. My mouth waters thinking of it. We're not from the islands but from India. [25 Apr 2005 19:41:44]

Awesome Food I am a Bengali from India, love goat curry, and jerk chicken, Ali's roti's goat, chicken, and shrimp is really tasty. Try their goat with Dal Puri, (ask them to serve the dal puri separately) I am not kidding, its real dal puri, just like made in Bengali style. You will enjoy...
It's also very less expensive than goat curry served in Royal Bengal or Diva. [21 May 2006 22:03:15]

Ali's Roti - The Best in Boston Food: I have tried all of the dishes, I am particularly fond of the pelau, buss up shot, shrimp roti, and pumpkin, side order. Everything is flavorful, the roti is made while you wait or it might have been recently made. Texture, and flavor is simply delicious. The portions are nicely sized.
Service: Service at Ali's is always excellent. The persons serving takes their time to hear what you are ordering, and is equally amicable when you change your mind while making your order. I haven't felt rushed while eating and or ordering meals.
If there was an error, the manager and or staff happily handles the matter gracefully.
Ambiance: The restaurant is clean, the volume of the music moderate
Other: Ali's is a good deal compared to similar restaurants in the area. I would and have recommended Ali''s to friends. If you would like to experience a Caribbean casual atmosphere with friends, this is the place to go. [30 Nov 2006 19:21:52]

Ali's Restaurant Food In the most recent past, I had the privilege to gratify my appetite with Ali's Restaurant food. I am a strict vegetarian and could not be more satisfied with the dishes that I relished: the skins, the string beans, the chick peas, the potatoes and the pumpkin were to my delight and taste. Do they cook pumpkin leaves as well?
The servings were ample (though I could have done with more string beans) and satisfying. The spices were neither too hot nor too scanty to my palate. Keep up the good work - I love the food. I suggest that they open up a branch in Rhode Island.
God bless their business and the hands that are preparing the delicious meals. [19 Feb 2008 11:18:52]

Really Fast Food I'm sorry but Ali's really doesn't cut it for me. My family is from Guyana and I have many friends from Trinidad and Tobago. I can't honestly say that I've eaten anything from there that I would call delicious. It's OK if you're looking for "fast food" West Indian style but other than that I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who who knows what roti and curry should taste and look like. [14 Aug 2008 11:56:13]
