Don't let bi-valves be by-gones! For those of you that don't like the slimy little critters, please let me offer my condolences. Everyone else, gather 'round, I have story to tell. There could possibly be no better oyster bar on this great continent of ours. Barbara Lynch has managed to squeeze every ounce of creativity she has into a minute subteranian hot spot named B&G Oyster Ltd. The scene is fanatastic if not hip and the food is outrageous. The selection of oysters is updated daily and you'll only cry for about two seconds when your favorites aren't available for that day, because there will some that you've never heard of. The oyster are ice cold and served completely shucked and free from that connective muscle that can make even the most proper of women look silly when trying wrestle the unruley mollusk from its home! But, don't stop there.....go for the tuna on white beans and escarole, or the buffalo rock shrimp with Great Hill blue cheese. All easily washed down with one of the many perfectly chosen wines or my favorite a Roderer Champagne. Ever want to pay $21 for a lobster roll...now's your chance...your wallet might take a hit but all five of your senses will thank you..trust me. Overall I'm envious, envious of the food, the creativity and mostly that I live in New York and don't always have time for the three hour drive. [23 Jan 2006 19:15:16]
