Description

Popular, tiny Italian storefront, serving Southern Italian dishes in the center of the North End. Pomodoro only accepts cash.

Although technically there is street parking nearby, the North End rarely has spaces. The nearest pay parking is several blocks away, as is the nearest subway stop.

I visited this restaurant 9 years ago with my husband & two very close friends. We were wandering the wharf when noticed a beautiful white fluffy pooch and struck up a conversation with it's owner. The locals name was Frankie Moyer. She told us of this restaurant and in fact walked us to it and on the way we stopped at her authentic Bostonian apartment where she called the restaurant and made reservations for her four new found friends from Detroit. We all agreed this was the "BEST" Italian eatery we had ever eaten at. The antipasto was like none we had ever had before -- very authentic -- and I remember my main dish was soft shell crab served over garlic mashed potatoes which was out of this world, drop dead delicious!!! We had an excellent bottle or two of wine and the bread and dipping oils were excellent. We all still talk about this restaurant, and I looked it up on the internet to see if they were still in business and they are. We have recommended this restaurant to many who were visiting the Boston area; reservations are a must. We were very lucky to meet such a wonderful person in Frankie Moyer, a memory we will all never forget.    [16 Jan 2004 09:24:44]

Worst service in my life
We had reservations and waited about 25 minutes to be seated. The atmosphere was great, and the food was actually pretty good. They served no soft drinks, which was a little odd, but the the end of the meal was remarkable. First, I was informed that they take no credit cards (the waitress suggested that I could walk down the block to a machine). No problem, but it should have been disclosed when we made the reservations. However, the real issue is that after the meal, we were told, in as rude a manner as possible, that it was time to leave - other people were waiting for the table. I checked my watch, it had been 1 hour and 15 minutes since we had been seated. I called to find out the name of the hostess who was so rude - it was the owner!! Needless to say, she clearly must have known the professional reviewers personally and been on her best behavior because their description of her and the service level of the restaurant is off by a wide margin. Simply put, the worst service I have had in 25 years. Too bad.    [17 Oct 2005 14:44:14]
