Description
Very popular for sushi and other Japanese food, as well as its large list of hot and cold sake. There is often a line at dinner. Casual, lively atmosphere.

This Place Sucks This restaurant is simply awful! Whoever thinks good about this restaurant is probably tricked by their location and seemingly Japanese like atmosphere. When you really taste their food and experience their service, you'll never want to go back there again. Their tea smells like rotten water, their miso soup is worse than any soup served in any other restaurant in Boston, and the broth of noodle soup is just tastless. Worst of all, thier sushi guys do not know how to make sushi.
The attitude of workers and managers is terrible, too. Believe me. I grew up in Japan. Their food is not authentic and they are so shameless to name their place a "Japanese restaurant". I recommend you never even think of going there. Let's not forget to mention the prices are so overrated. [19 Nov 2005 20:09:08]

Popular, but Overrated Ginza isn't bad by Boston standards. Best of Boston? Well, no. It's really not even the best of Brookline - I can think of at least two clearly better places, and several more that are in the same league. On the other hand, I can also think of several worse places, so it isn't as abysimal as the previous reviewer would have you think.
The atmosphere is fine for a casual Japanese spot, but nothing spectactular. It is extremely popular, so there is often a line, and it can get quite noisy, especially on weekends.
The quality of the sushi seems to depend on who is working and on what time of day it is. At the busier times, quality seems to suffer as the sushi chefs try to cover the large restaurant and their many takeout orders. The service also lags during busy times. I have noticed that the hosts/hostesses are not always the most friendly people.
The miso soup (mentioned in the previous review) seems to me to be like pretty much all the miso soup served by the vast majority of Japanese restaurants in the area. I suspect they all get it from the same place.
The prices are on the high side for what you get, though there are a few places with higher prices. You can probably find better value elsewhere. [21 Nov 2005 10:59:14]
