Great Dining Experience My husband and I ate some of the best Chinese food there ever. The crab rangoons were to die for! [06 Jan 2006 12:55:06]

Over 12 Years Eating Here I read some reviews and was surprised by some of the unsatisfied customers. I have eating for over twelve years and never have a bad meal. They have adapted to trends seamlessly and their bar service is so great I insist on sitting at the bar first prior to going dinner even if a table is available right away.
The food is always fresh and never disappointing. [20 Oct 2006 18:38:13]

Since Day One We have been eating at The Golden Temple since the day it opened. The food has always been top notch. It is a bit pricey, but the service and ambiance make up for the extra cost.
Well worth the visit. [14 Mar 2007 11:13:58]

Overpriced, All Show, Lousy Food Don't go if you like quality Chinese food. This place is a farce. It looks like a fine restaurant but the food may as well come out of a corner take out. Who puts large shreds of carrots in a tasteless shou mai? A cheap chef, that's who. Hot and sour soup that is thick and sweet. Look at the drink menu before the rude waiter grabs it off your table. $9 for a bad Mai Tai and no dancing? Save your money, stay home and open a can of La Choy; it will be a much better experience. Not Worth the Price The food was ok when I ate in (probably because I was drinking too), but when I ordered out I thought it was not nearly as good as I remembered it to be. Both the drinks and the food are overpriced, and my waiter ignored me for quite some time when I wanted another drink. And crab Rangoons, normally my favorite, have rice in the filling...not good at all! I'm surprised this place gets such good reviews. [28 Aug 2007 20:03:30]

Many Hits and Many Misses I have been to Golden Temple on several occasions and I have had a variety of experiences. The waitstaff, hosts, and bartenders are always courteous, but they (with a few exceptions) are not overly warm. Quite frankly, though, I prefer good service with less personality than bad service with more personality so this is a plus for me. I can see from other reviews that, understandably, it is not a plus for everyone.
The restaurant is immaculate, the restrooms are clean, and the food and beverages are consistent. No matter how many times you order one dish, it will taste the same, be presented the same way, and will come with the same sauces.
I love their mai tai. There are very few places where you can get a real mai tai, and so, surprisingly few people know what a real mai tai is. A real mai tai consists of two types of rum, orange curacao, and orgeat syrup. It should be served in a double old-fashioned glass over crushed ice. The drink was created by Trader Vic Bergeron, and if made properly, it is out of this world (as the name states). I love to stop in on a Saturday afternoon, sit in their bar and sip one of these expertly made mai tais. They are always expertly made and they alone are reason to go to Golden Temple.
As for the food, there are definitely hits and misses. I love the chicken potstickers, which are perfectly golden and taste heavenly. Their sesame chicken is delicious, with a sauce that is neither too sweet nor too heavy. At the same time, some dishes are simply awful. The eggrolls have a filling that is just disgusting. Skip the eggrolls even if they are included. Their mandarin orange chicken tastes like a combination of chicken and jello made of sunny delight. Suffice to say, I would not recommend that dish to anyone. Of course, if you did not return after trying that dish, you would miss out on the other wonderful dishes. So, I would recommend returning and doing your best to find out the "hits" and the "misses" from other restaurant-goers. [02 Dec 2007 13:05:24]
