Sidewalk-level access. One table is very tall, and would not be easily accessible for someone in a wheelchair.

Description

Creative American cuisine in an upscale bar in the heart of Washington Square. The seasonal menu is divided into appetizers, "platters" (smaller-sized meals), and entrees, and there are daily specials. The restaurant is furnished in dark woods, with modern art along the walls, and bookshelves adding a more casual touch. The crowd is a friendly mix of young professionals and long-time neighborhood residents.

Unlike many area restaurants, takeout is not offered. Desserts are not available, either, but locals know to visit Athan's bakery across the street.

Terrible Place
We had our name on their list waiting for a table, which the owner, Jerry said it would be 1/2 hr wait. An hour and 1/2 later (we were waiting at the bar), we inquired about table and were told that they closed the kitchen 15 minutes ago. They refused to seat us and when we questioned why they had not bothered to inform us, his response was that we should not bother going back there again. What a horrible evening. Great Bar with Even Better Food
Their food puts an interesting twist on an American theme. All of the salads are made with the freshest produce, and the soups are hearty with large pieces of seafood/meats, they are worth the price (~$7). The main courses are diverse, from one of the best burgers/fries in all of Boston, to risotto cooked to perfection. At night it can get very busy as the bar crowd picks up so come early or be prepared to wait. The only downside is it is a little expensive for a tavern but overall it is well worth the price. This is one of my favorite places and many Brookliners will agree with me.    [29 Apr 2006 15:23:22]
