Description

The original location of Atasca has closed. The second location, on Hampshire St., near One Kendall Square, in East Cambridge, is still open. Their O'Cantinho restaurant, in Central Square also remains open.

An intimate Portuguese restaurant crowded with tables and moderately-priced Mediterranean fare.

The wine list focuses on Portugese selections, mostly in inexpensive and moderate price ranges.

Intimate and Tasty
Atasca has a reputation as the best Portuguese in greater Boston, and the food certainly shown on a recent visit. A seafood stew held generous helpings of delicately flavored clams and mussels. An appetizer (or you could go for the appetizers as Tapas) of fresh Portuguese cheese and tomatoes was seasonal, and tasted like Mozzarella with a twist. My chicken cutlets were similar to an Italian chicken marsala, nice but unremarkable, but it came with a great risotto.

Service, however, was quite slow given that it was a half-empty Sunday night.    [10 Jul 2000 16:16:08]
