This fabulous newly re-opened restaurant is truly a gem.
I have continued to go there for the past 4 weeks and have enjoyed wonderful cocktails on the deck, tasty appetizers and my favorite pan roasted local cod accompanied with lobster mashed potato and vegetable. Needless to say, dessert -- well, the chocolate souffle is literally to-die-for.
Great things in the future for this wonderful fine dining restaurant. [27 Jun 2004 11:09:10]

I'm from Mattapoisett and came to the "Tea Room" when it first opened many years ago, had a great dinner, but never went back. However, being a regular listener to Don most mornings I heard he had bought the restaurant and suggested to my wife we should try it (remembering the atmosphere and food). Well, we went with another couple and both said this will definitely be a regular for us. Took my wife on her birthday end of Dec. along with other family and everyone impressed again, atmosphere, music, food and service. Also, had a pleasant conversation with Don. We'll be back soon. Both times we had the chef's special (last time 3 of us had his venison tenderloin and we left it up to him how he should cook it-came rare - fantastic). [10 Jan 2005 12:44:24]

Disappointing Six of us went to dinner at the Crane Brook Restaurant last night. Three of us ordered black Chilean Sea Bass and were shocked and disappointed when a whole fish perched on our plates - head, tail and all. We were not told by the waiter that this was how it was prepared. Every mouthful was loaded with bones and the sauce was awfully bland. I was still hungry after eating my meal! The other three people we were with enjoyed their meals. I spoke with the owner and told him of my disappointment. He did not apologize - he ignored what I had to say. I probably will not go back to that restaurant. [21 Feb 2005 19:17:22]

Rehearsal Dinner, Wedding Party Fiasco We hoped the Crane Brook would be the best location to convey our heartfelt joy and start the wedding celebration in a romantic setting. We met with event coordinator Jeanette Geribo three times and added extras (seat covers and flowers) to enhance the restaurant offerings.
Imagine our disappointment when prepared menus on each place setting had the wrong bride and groom's names. The entire menu was wrong. Corrections were hasty and the results proved disappointing. The private room was set up wrong using a head table that proved awkward for the 30 guests who came as couples. The only bright spots were the staff on hand who seemed as embarrassed as we were.
A letter to the owner went unanswered. Like one of the other reviewers we were extremely disappointed and could not in good conscience recommend this restaurant for a similar event. [05 Jul 2005 10:58:24]

Small Wedding I attended a small intimate wedding at the Crane Brook in mid August and was completely blown away by the entire experience. We started the evening off with cocktails in and around the impeccably and whimsically landscaped grounds. The cocktail service was prompt and delightful, and the appetizers were out of this world. Couldn't get enough of them and would have been beyond satisfied if the dining experience ended there.
After a particularly beautiful sunset we all were ushered into the dining area (a tastefully decorated, intimate room...think it was called Waverly). The seating arrangements were "restauratnt style" with tables of 4-8 the norm. Aside - why didn't the above wedding/rehersal party request the tables be rearranged? I've worked in the restaurant industry and know first-hand that these configurations can be changed fairly quickly.
Getting a little long winded so I'll wrap it up and cut to the chase:
Food - Wonderful beyond measure. Ambiance - bespeaks another time and place. Service - Professional and courteous. Can't ask for more than that.
I've been back five times since. I guess that makes it every weekend since the wedding...and don't plan to break that streak anytime soon. [15 Sep 2005 18:13:52]

Rehearsal Dinner - Spectacular After planning my wedding for over a year, I also received the added responsibility of finding a place for our rehearsal dinner (since my in-laws live 1500 miles away). I was so thrilled to find the perfect place. Just like any bride who dreams of her wedding day, along with it comes the evening before. My (now) husband and I were so relieved to find this perfect setting.
As we drove up to this historic country looking home, we were embraced by the charm it presented. As we walked in we were approached by a warm and friendly staff, who were more then helpful. The event coordinator, toured us through the restaurant. We chose the private room upstairs, with a beautiful window seat overlooking the pond. After deciding on that room, Jeanette (function coordinator) went through every detail that would be involved for the evening, from the set up of the room, linen colors, abundant choices of entrees and wine and even the flower centerpieces in which she personally arranged.
The evening finally came, and despite the Thanksgiving rush the night before, the Crane Brook saw to my every need and made this a memorable event for all who were involved in our special day. My highest recommendations for anyone planning an event! [01 Oct 2005 18:37:32]

Nice Change We recently dined at Crane Brook and it was spectacular! The owner, Don, was circulating, greeting guests and getting laughs. We had looked forward to dining here after hearing raves from our friends and we were not disappointed in the least. Outstanding food, atmosphere, and experience. [07 May 2006 09:18:09]

Upgraded Recently we were in the Carver area and decided to visit the Crane Brook. We hoped the new owner would meet the standards of the former owner/chef. We could not have been more pleased. We dined on the deck and the food surpassed our expectations many times over. What a joy to sit on a deck over looking a peaceful pond as well as manicured gardens and enjoy a meal finer than most Boston establishments could match. Do treat yourselves! [06 Aug 2006 15:18:23]

Wow What an Amazing Restaurant I was a guest at a wedding that was hosted at the Crane Brook over this long weekend. I was/am just blown away by this place. The service, the food and the drinks were more then fantastic. There are no words to express how wonderful the whole experience was.
The ceremony was out back in the breathtaking gardens overlooking the pond which had swans in the back drop, at sunset. Not one thing was overlooked; the manager made the bride's bouquet (it looked as if it had been torn out of a bridal magazine) and the centerpieces were just as gorgeous as well. I don't live near there, but it is definitely worth the trip. I recommend this little peace of bliss to anyone looking to host an event here. Wow! [09 Oct 2006 15:54:46]
