We would have to recommend the baked stuffed shrimp, and the prime rib (medium rare) was to die for. We just came back and I'm stuffed. Oh, and I can't forget the salad bar. It's the most fresh items everything was great. Can't wait to go back.    [06 Nov 2002 22:16:11]

Hardcover Was Awful in Every Aspect
Made reservations 3 weeks ago for a party of 6 for a 30th anniversary. When we got there, they said they didn't have the reservation and were terribly rude. I gave them the person's name I made it with and they said "Oh well, you have to wait." Well, I told them they better seat me right away or I'll personally make a scene...I got seated. The prime rib was fatty and the shrimp was all dried up. Had asked them to sing Happy Anniversary - they forgot and finally did it (rudely) after we got our bill. I would never go there again. The only thing that was good was the company I was with.    [19 Jan 2003 10:11:07]

Easter Dinner
For the last 3 years I have brought my family there for dinner. This year the service was excellent as always. I ordered 3 appetizers. 1 was cold and very skimpy. My daughter and I ordered a prime rib and seafood combo. The prime rib was tough and bland. The bill came to $ 238.00, and with the tip around $300.00.

That's a lot of money for one meal, and you would hope that you would enjoy it.    [26 Apr 2003 19:10:29]

More Than Awful
The Hardcover has a real problem with serving alcohol to people who have to wait too long at the bar. They overserve them and then when you are seated and trying to enjoy a quiet meal, you are surrounded by people who are drunk and very, very loud. Awful! Food was bland, I think some of it bought frozen (crab cakes, baked stuffed potato). Too much money for a mundane meal. The salad bar had nothing in it that thousands of other salad bars have.

What is with all the different servers? What was interesting is that even with all the servers, even after I complained about the noise, I had to ask the people next to us to please keep it down. It was like being in a sports bar. I would never go back.    [19 May 2003 09:33:53]

Fabulous
I have been eating at the Hardcover for years. Its the only restaurant my husband feels comfortable at. You people who said it was awful try it again.    [05 Dec 2005 16:18:47]

Too Loud - Steak Not Tasty
I went there with my family last year and will not go back, since there are so many better places, like the Black Cow or Not Your Average Joe's.

The acoustics in The Hardcover are a real problem - you can hear the conversations at all the other tables.

If you go to a steakhouse, you want a really good steak - my steak was pretty bland, and the other dishes were similarly disappointing.    [25 Jul 2007 16:02:49]
