Excellent The best Mexican around! This new location is terrific- just as warm and inviting as the old one in Abington, only now I can enjoy my margarita at the decent size bar. The staff can't please enough. I always leave more than satisfied. A must try. [01 Feb 2005 17:55:49]

Best Bet Excellent spot for good Mexican food. The new location is much larger and the bar is bigger/better. Forget the Mexican chains - try a local favorite. Excellent food and good prices. Waitstaff is very attentive. [27 Jun 2005 14:41:22]

Carmen's Is Terrible Gave it 3 strikes and it's out. Was good when they were in Abington but since they moved to East Bridgewater service and food have deteriorated to the point of no return. Food can sometime be hot on the outside and frozen in the middle. What’s that all about? The woman who seats you is not very pleasant and makes you feel unwelcome. Bad service all round. They started out like gangbusters but not many patrons any more. Too bad! East Bridgewater needs good restaurants but this one has turned out to be a real dud. [01 Sep 2005 19:10:06]

Horrible I am usually a fan of Mexican food, but the food at Carmen's can hardly be called Mexican. In fact, it barely passes for food. Inedible is the word I would use to describe it! [29 Jan 2006 12:38:19]

Definitely Go Great food, staff is very accommodating, and entertainment on Friday nights (Joe Merrick) is excellent. Highly, highly recommended! [26 Feb 2006 09:25:41]

Okay Food, Bar-Like Atmosphere I've been to Carmen's three times and after yesterday, probably won't go back again. If you're feeling the urge for greasy Tex-Mex dripping with cheese, Carmen's is your place. Just don't plan on doing anything for a few hours afterwards.
If you have ADD, even better. Between the TV, the sounds of people playing video games at the bar, and the loud country music that greets you as you enter, you'll have no shortage of aural stimuli. I took a visiting relative here once and was mortified at the loud heavy metal music playing in the dining area.
If you want a filling, no-frills bite, you could do worse than Carmen's. If you want something special, though, or a place where you can have a quiet conversation, steer clear. [24 Apr 2006 12:13:23]

Worst Mexican Food Ever Are you serious? How does this place stay in business? We had to come to the area to house sit and decided we would go to Carmen's. Was my margarita made with Gatorade? The worst margarita that I have ever had and I got the "fancy" one with 1800.
The food...I would have taken Taco Bell over what I got here. I don't think they bothered to season the beef in anything and the only seasoning on the boiled chicken that they used was salt. I have eaten Mexican food all over Massachusetts (and all over the country) and I can say, without any doubt, that this was the worst I have had. I know that there aren't many choices for restaurants in the area but they have to be able to do better than this. [26 Jun 2006 09:31:55]

Staff So Rude, I Never Tried the Food I have never been treated so badly at a restaurant. Our waitress refused to serve one of us because she had a NY I.D. and said she could only accept drivers licenses. How many people from New York City drive cars? Anyway, we asked the waitress to cancel our drink orders because we were going to leave and she said "Fine," but as we were walking out the door she says "Too late. Here's your drinks. You need to pay." I said "We canceled the order and we are leaving," but she ran to her manager who then threatened to call the cops. I paid her and exchanged some words with what had to be the most hideous woman on the South Shore and we left.
I wish I didn't pay. what would they really do? Run my plates? And for what? Anyway while we were there the atmosphere had a very towny bar feel to it. The menu was not at all Mexican. They let some drunk guy with a guitar attempt to serenade us with his slurred Billy Joel tunes "Thing me tha thong I'm the piano man." He played so loudly we couldn't even be heard shouting across the table. [21 Aug 2006 19:50:10]

Love It I don't know what these people are talking about. They obviously wouldn't know good Mexican food if it bit them in their face. Besides it says right on the sign, menu, and everything: Mexican and *American* restaurant. I absolutely love Carmen's and I've been going there ever since I was a little girl.
I liked it better in the Abington residence even though it was smaller. I don't know why, but I still like the East Bridgewater location - I think its the only thing in that town that isn't stuck up, and I like the staff and atmosphere of the entire restaurant.
If you ever decide to go, remember to save room for dessert and get the fried ice cream (helaldo refrito). It's wicked bomb - omg, I think I could live off of it. But don't prejudge the restaurant. Go. Eat. Experience. It's a good time - especially Cinco de Mayo! [29 Jan 2007 21:35:16]
