Best Chinese in Lexington This is my preferred Chinese Restaurant in Lexington. I usually get the buffet, because I am either by myself or with my daughter, although I have tried plenty of things off the menu in my time. The buffet has recently expanded, so, at least on the weekends, one can always get chow foon etc. While they do not have a dim sum lunch buffet on the weekend, they do have a few such items. I particularly like the crystal dumplings, which seem to have a spinach filling. The new pearl balls are interesting but tend to fall apart. And I have unfortunately been turned onto the chicken wings, thanks to my daughter. Probably the tastiest things you might encounter are things with garlic sauce and beef with carrots (don't remember whether they call it that or beef with celery). The hot and sour soup ranges from excellent (at which point it is probably the best around) to somewhat disappointing, but still on the high end.
Avoid the beef etc. in orange sauce, and note that the General Tsao's Chicken is suboptimal to say the least--at least it has been when I've had it. Also, they have the world's worst egg rolls, although I have seen some people eat them. [10 Aug 2001 15:34:38]

Best Chinese in Lexington My family and I have been going to the Yangtze River in Lexington for over 15 years and we have yet to be disappointed in either individual dishes or their fabulous buffet. From the chicken & cashew to the rice sticks, to the General Tsao's chicken, to some of the newer dishes like curried beef & onions, and yes, we love the egg rolls as well. Very friendly service, we'll continue to go there and get our take out from them. Other Chinese restaurants in the are pale in comparison - even the one in our own town. [03 Apr 2003 13:26:12]

Birthplace of America's Best Our family frequently does take-out at Yangtze River and everyone from my 7 year-old on up love the food. It's always fresh, hot and delicious when it arrives on table some 2 miles away.
Word to the wise...stay away on New Years eve though - it's standing room only! [19 Sep 2003 15:05:51]

Best Chinese Buffet in the Area I have tried plenty of Chinese restaurants in the Metro West and North area and I have to say this is the best I've been to in terms of food and price. For a $10 buffet on the weekend you get hot fresh hot dim sum dishes (instead of the lukewarm "reheated" version at Peking Garden in Lexington), popular Chinese breakfast items (hot tofu custard, soy milk, porridge, etc.) and finally many stir-fry dishes and appetizers. I guarantee you will leave the restaurant feeling satisfied. [12 Nov 2003 14:02:01]

Chicken and Cashew Yum If you have never had cashew and chicken this is the place to get some! I have been going since a kid and by far it is my favorite Chinese food dish ever! But only here, like no other place on earth...to go with it is the fried rice...not greasy, oily or anything like that, it is full of veggies and unbelievable flavor! For anyone to say this place is less than perfect must not be talking about the same place! [05 Jan 2004 12:51:43]

Love this Place I've been going to Yangtze for a long time as it is close by my place of business - but have also been known to come up from the NH border on weekends when I need a good fix! I think the buffet - although very good could be expanded more, but all in all, It's very good food. [15 May 2006 11:04:40]
