At Last
This location has been plagued by a constant stream of failed restaurants, now finally this end of Newtonville has something to be proud of. Ariadne is a cozy restaurant with soft lighting and friendly service. After eating there several times I have decided that the duck breast is my favorite menu item, but for those looking to get out a little cheaper the blue cheese sirloin burger is also superb (at $11) or the med-plate ($6).

Unfortunately the desserts were a little lacking. The crème brulée, while cooked to perfection, was too sweet, and the coconut sorbet might need an ice pick to penetrate. On the whole, however the desserts are good. I suggest the chocolate torte or hazelnut tart. Also Monday nights can be fun with $5 specialty cocktails and live music.    [23 Jun 2006 11:23:39]

Needs New Ownership
It's sad when a place you really want to love does it's best to fail. I have gone to this place several times in the past and had a pretty good time. With that said, my most recent experience was terrible. Several items on the menu were not available for dinner (it was 7:00 pm) the drinks served were watered down and the service was awful. The kitchen help was getting better bar service than the customers. I honestly feel the ownership needs to give up the place or reopen as a local bar/pub instead of fooling themselves into thinking they can manage an upscale dining/drinking establishment. Truly disappointed.    [22 Jul 2008 08:31:17]
