Barbecue joint in West Newton. Business is mostly takeout, but there are a few counter-style seats. In the summer, there are also a couple of small tables outside.

Newton's Best BBQ
Newton is full of little gems when it comes to take out food. One of the finest is the Blue Ribbon BBQ. All of the meat is slowly cooked and has the pink ring that lets you know the BBQ is authentic. The sauces are excellent and you can help yourself to any of their four sauces if you need a little extra. Especially tasty is their pulled chicken and beef brisket. The menu is fairly large and the prices are reasonable. They feature standard BBQ sides as well as special dishes that change daily. Although you won't find any better BBQ in Newton (and it rivals anything in the Boston area), you should plan on making this meal take out. There are only about a dozen stools beside the counter and a couple tables outside when it's warm. You won't have any room for dessert (which is fortunate because the pickings are slim) once you make your way through the Texas-sized portions, but they also don't serve any brew. If you're in search of tasty take-out and you're not counting calories, you can't do much better than the Blue Ribbon.    [28 Jun 2001 14:28:15]

This Texas Rates Blue Ribbon 5-stars
I'll put it this way - there are only four BBQ restuarants that I have been to that rate 5 stars in my book: 1) Salt Lick BBQ in Austin, TX; 2) Ironworks BBQ in Austin, TX; 3) Trail Dust BBQ in Arlington, TX, and 4) Blue Ribbon in Newton, MA. Blue Ribbon is really that good.    [11 Feb 2004 19:40:29]
