Bertucci's On Friday May 16, I had a birthday party for my 8 year old daughter at Build-a-bear at the North Shore Mall in Peabody. I was told when making reservations and on the web site for build a bear that Bertucci's was a food partner with build a bear and would give me a 10% discount if a took the 11 children there for pizza after the party. I called two days in advance and told the man I spoke to my situation he said they didn't take reservations on Fridays but there would be no trouble accomodating us since it would not be busy at 4:30. Next I asked him if I could come early and bring a cake, he then informed me that they had delicious cakes there and I could buy one from them. He told me to call right before we came down and they would set a table for us. The next day, Thursday, I called again just to confirm I was coming and spoke to a manager Janice who told me "no problem we will be expecting you just call right before you come and we will set up for you." On Friday, one of the other parents went over to Bertucci's to let them know we were on our way. When we got there the table was all ready. Before we even sat, I gave them my order, which at the time was 4:30. Well, the waitress was slow and rude. She took the pizza out and dropped them on a few trays and left some paper plates. After I tracked her down I told her she could start getting the cake ready because the kids eat fast. She then told me they did not have cakes and she said it with a rotten attitude. I explained to her that I was told they did and I wanted it. I asked to speak to the manager who happened to be Janice the woman I spoke to the night before. She was worse than the waitress. She stormed over like I was bothering her and said we don't take reservations on Fridays and we do have cakes but they're frozen. I was upset it was my daughters 8th birthday she wanted a cake and she couldn't even be apologetic or pretend to be understanding. Then she said "I have some slices but you're going to have to pay for them seperately, why don't you just give them a hoodsies" and she stomped away. The waitress never cleared the table. I had to ask some one else for the hoodsie and when she finally brought them she had 3 peices of cake. I told her to bring one for each child, after all I wasn't going to let 3 out of 11 children have cake. She very rudely blurted out, "The manager said you have to pay for every piece." I told her I didn't care about paying for every piece. About 20 min later after I took all of the children to the bathroom, the cake still was not there and the table was still not picked up. She then came over with the check and I told her I wanted the rest of the cake for the other children. She took the check back, took all her time while me and another adult guest cleared the table somewhat, and then came back with the check and only 4 more pieces of cake for a total of 7. The bill was 127.00 and some change. I was so upset, and the other parents that were so patiently waiting for their children could not believe the way we were being treated. The other 4 children never even got their cake, and to top it off they never gave me my 10% off. Way to go Bertucci's; nice way for my daughter to have an 8TH b'day!!!!! [26 Aug 2003 17:38:23]

Bertucci's Is Great I went to Bertucci's for my daughter's 10th birthday party before going to a play in Boston. We placed our order and proceeded to wait for the food to arrive. The waiter was kind and showed up with the bread and drinks quite promptly. What happened next was quite a surprise. They brought out 3 dinners.
My wife's and my 2 daughters' orders. The waiter said that my selection had been burned and they were preparing another. While this did not fill me with joy, he was pleasant and handled the problem well. Several minutes later, the manager came to our table and expressed how sorry he was for the delay in getting my meal. He also informed me that the meal would be taken off the bill and we would receive a complimentary dessert for waiting. This was very gracious of the manager. I was completely taken by surprise. What a lovely gesture on his part. I will definitely be going back, and by the way, my whole family talked about the incident for the rest of the evening. What a delightful staff, and such a pleasant experience. I dined there November 17th between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM. That manager deserves a raise! [18 Nov 2003 06:59:17]

Great for a Snack Too One time my mother and I went to Bertucci's for lunch and we split the personal pizza between us. It worked out great, including bread with olive oil, or optionally butter, and the salad. [15 Jul 2004 00:44:23]
