We ate at the bar because at the time it was all that was open. If you go on a Friday night definitely make sure you make reservations. The food service at the bar was exceptional and very unexpected because of the size of the bar and number of people eating. Julie and Bryan were the best. Drinks were outstanding and never needed to wait. The bar is a little loud but not overpowering; conversation is easy. [27 Jan 2001 14:46:45]

Outstanding 3 features in one place: food and service, reasonable prices and a view - harbor in daylight and lighted buildings on waterfront at night from banked seating in a second floor restaurant.
Ordered fish and chips for lunch; thick steak and thick swordfish with good and generous salad, mashed potato and vege for dinner (gladly took some home).
Planning another group trip from Cape Cod in near future. [13 Mar 2002 15:33:32]

My party of three waited thirty minutes to be seated with reservations. The atmosphere was noisy and the service was poor. The host made some very rude comments when I commented on how long we waited to be seated. However the view was great and the food was quite decent despite the appetizer being stale. I would not recommend the place for obvious reasons. Dine here at your own risk. [05 Sep 2002 23:19:04]

Just Okay We moved to Plymouth a few days ago and wanted to experience fresh seafood on the water. To our disappointment, the food was just blah. The atmosphere was okay - lots of little white lights everywhere. [02 Jan 2004 21:03:46]

You've Got It All Wrong As far as Isaac's, the food is decent, but I don't think it's always worth the wait. [13 Aug 2004 14:55:37]

Excellent Great food at under 20 dollar prices. Last night my wife got the seafood bouillabaisse. In a word, awesome! It came with a 1.5 lb lobster and a bowl full of sea scallops, shrimp, cherrystone clams, mussels, and schrod with a saffron tomato broth. All for $19.95. Mmmm. I got the prime rib. Huge, at least 20-24 ounces of perfectly cooked rib. We got the fried calamari which was just so-so. The drinks were not lacking in booze. My 3 gin and tonics made for a sound sleep that nite. I have been there about 6 times and always have been impressed.
Great views usually (last night all I could see was ice - brrrrr).
Went there May 8th. I got the baked stuffed lobster for $19.95 which was a 1.5 lb lobster suffed with 4 u15 shrimp and large sweet sea scallops. The wife got the Lobster Fantasy which consisted of 1.5 lb boiled lobster split in half over a huge bed of linguini with mussels, clams, scallops and shrimp for $19.95. I have been there 20 times and I cant ever remember having a bad dining experience. [28 Dec 2004 18:17:57]

Very Good Dining Value I live in Plymouth, and have eaten here many times. I rarely have had an unpleasant meal. great view of Plymouth harbor. The owners run several other restaurants on the South Shore. The Hingham Bay Club is set up almost identically (little white lights everywhere).
The two dishes that I recommend are lobster fantasy and seafood bouillabase. Both dishes come with many different types of expensive seafoods such as littleneck clams and sweet scallops. And the lobster in both dishes is cut down the middle making it very easy to eat. Both of these dishes are just under 20 bucks but well worth the money. The only problem is that neither dish is on the menu, they are specials, usually on Friday, but sometimes on other nights as well.
Other dishes are much less expensive. Most dishes run from 8 to 14 bucks. They also have Keno, but TV screens are discreetly located to keep the ambiance. Luches are even cheaper, and are an exceptional value. As a Plymouth native, Isaac's is one of the better values. [19 Mar 2005 13:57:12]

Head North to Boston for that Special Occasion - Issac's Is Not the Spot My husband and I went to this restaurant for our anniversary after reading reviews about the "fancy" atmosphere and great food. All I can say is - what a disappointment!
This is not a spot for an important date or a special anniversary. We started by waiting 45 minutes even though we had a reservation. There were more jeans and tee shirts at this "fancy" restaurant than should be allowed anywhere. At 9:00 PM a couple with three kids - all five dressed in jeans, tees and sweats arrived for some "eats" which created its own atmosphere.
However, we were nicely dressed for an occasion and looked forward to the great food. Another disappointment. My husband's rack of lamb was mediocre at best. My swordfish with bernaise sauce was mushy - as if frozen - and covered with thick, tough, asparagus that I will not buy at the grocery store because it is not pleasant to eat. We had calamari for an appetizer which was nicely fried but the most tasteless presentation we have had anywhere. As for the "pricey" comment in some other reviews, $13.95 and $14.95 for an entree is not pricey and I quess that is what deceived us - we were expecting (based on other reviews), an expensive restaurant for an occasion, which presented gourmet quality food and an atmosphere for a special occasion - Isaac's offered neither.
The waitstaff was nice and pleasantly accomodating. For an occasion that you want to make memorable, head north towards Boston folks - this is not the place. Isaac's is good for that sweaty day of sightseeing or boating (the view is special) when you want to roll in somewhere for something to eat - it's a "fancy" waterfront clamshack for casual, not special occasions. Even at moderate prices - you don't get what you pay for. On the same par as the Weathervane Restaurant. Sorry to all of you who think this is a great spot - it is what it is, and we were very disappointed and won't put it on our list of restaurants to revisit. [24 Apr 2005 20:16:02]
