Great View on Historic Salem Harbor The Rockmore Dry Dock presents casual dining, and great food, both surf and turf, at very fair prices. I have eaten there countless times for over three years, and have never been disappointed. Although the view from the Dry Dock is exceptional, if the weather permits, check out their sister restaurant, which is on a barge floating right in the harbor. You can only reach it by a shuttle boat, which is free, and a lot of fun. Please don't forget to tip the boat driver.
And if you have any day-old bread, bring it with you. All about the barge live a school of huge sea bass, who quite nearly leap from the water when a tasty bit of bread lands on the surface. If the bass are hungry, and you lean over the rail a bit too far, you just might get splashed. [25 Aug 2000 22:51:53]

Only Good for Drinks on the Deck - Don't Bother with the Food Unless You Need It for Alcohol Absorption Food has been on a steady downhill slope over the years - the only reason we keep going back is the deck that overlooks the water - that is it. The food is of very poor quality and the service is not that great - had to get my own drinks at the bar as well as condiments. [06 May 2002 10:31:03]

Floating Is the Whole Thing While the food us decent and unspectacular, the view makes up for it. When Salem is sultry and humid, take a little boat out to the Rockmore and get very cool. The food is good, but watch out for your napkins blowing away. The only other hazard is that sometimes the food gets cool quickly due to the ocean breezes. You can get a large quantity of fried seafood for short money if you split the fisherman's platter with a friend. It's not really about the food; it's about the attitude adjustment. Sit there and sip your beverage and all your cares will melt away. This is the perfect place to take out of towners. Truly unique. [05 Jan 2003 14:08:18]

Keep going back for the beautiful view of water and the boats. It's very relaxing and even better when the music is playing. The food is not so good, eat before you go there and the kitchen - if you want to call it that - is terrible. Just go to have a drink and see it all. [28 May 2006 20:51:15]
